Going on Vacation this Summer? Make Sure your Home is Safe and Secure

beach

Vacation is supposed to be a time to relax, unwind, and just take it easy. Many people look forward to the Summer months because it’s a very popular time to get away and spend time with friends and family. Whether you are going on a week-long vacation or just a weekend getaway, make sure your home and your belongings are safe and protected. Allow Central Jersey Security Camera’s to help with the installation of an alarm system and/or security cameras.

  • Homes that don’t have security systems are three times more likely to be robbed. When burglars are examining a home they typically check to see if the home has security cameras. If there is a visible security camera that the burglar notices, 9 out of 10 times they will move on to a different home. It is a known statistic that a home gets broken into every 15 seconds. Only 14% of homes in the country have security systems installed. Let us help keep you from becoming a statistic by keeping your home safe and secure.
  • Suburban homes are 50% more likely to be robbed. Suburban homes are typically located in lower traffic areas and a thief will usually have better access to all sides of the home. Thieves can easily identify where they will break in because they have access to the entire outside perimeter of the home.
  • Daytime hours are the most popular times for a burglary to occur (between 10am-3pm). Most people assume a robber will break in during the night while everyone is asleep. 65% of residential burglaries happen during the day when most people are at work and the kids are at school.
  • 1/3rd of all break ins occur through unlawful entry. 33% of home invasions happen by the burglar walking straight into the home through an unlocked door or climbing through an open window.

Below are a few simple tips that can lower your chances of becoming a victim of a robbery:

  1. Refrain from posting any valuable belongings on social media. When you post pictures of that new laptop you just bought or that new flat screen T.V you are showing everyone out there the new expensive items that are sitting in your home. Also, refrain from posting about your vacation until after you get back if no one is going to be watching your home while you’re away. If a robber knows that no one will be at your home for multiple days, it will make you a very easy target for them. Although your social media pages may be private, every person on your friends’ lists can view your posts and they can pass along the information to anybody.
  2. Make sure that no one can view any expensive items in your home from the street or sidewalk. Move any TV’s, expensive sound systems, computers, etc. out of clear view especially if your going to be away for X amount of days. Also, don’t throw away any boxes for expensive items in the outside trash cans. If a burglar sees a box for a brand new 60-inch flat screen TV now they know what is in your home and this would make your home a target.
  3. Be wary on who you open your door to. Thieves will sometimes knock on your door before planning a break in to get a better view of what valuables may be inside your home. Keep track on those who do knock on your door whom you don’t know.
  4. Get a home security system and keep them up to date! Getting a security system installed is a great idea to ensure your home is safe and protected but they aren’t as useful if they don’t work properly. Choosing home security is a big investment and when making this investment you need to think about the choice you make when choosing the company to install your home security systems. Be sure that the company you choose is BBB accredited. Read the company reviews and make sure the Central Station Monitoring you choose is UL listed. Also, check with your homeowner’s insurance. Many companies offer a discount to homeowners with UL listed alarms, some companies now offer a discount on installing security cameras to your home as well. Check with your provider to see what discounts they might offer.

What is the best option for my home?

Our team of well-trained technicians will help you feel confident that you are choosing the proper security equipment and placement to fit your home’s needs. Keep your family and belongings safe and secure while you’re away. We have two different types of cameras, one being dome shaped, the other being a bullet shaped. The main difference between the two is their appearance although we recommend bullet shaped cameras for outside. Some bullet cameras have double EXIR infrareds built into them causing their night vision to extend an additional 40-50 feet. You will be able to receive notifications or text messages of real time video from your security equipment. View what is taking place at your home when it happens through a live feed from your smartphone, tablet, or other portable devices. Use our event schedule to locate exactly when an event occurred that you may want to view. For example, if an even were to occur at your home within a 24-hour period but you aren’t sure of when it happened, you can use our event schedule which appears as a color-coded event list that allows you to jump ahead to all motion triggered events. If your cameras are set to record all the time it can shorten the space on your hard drive, even if there are no motion triggers. With the event schedule you can save space and lengthen the time on your DVR/NVR. Another useful tool to your cameras is line crossing detection. Take comfort in knowing your home is safe and secure even while you’re on vacation.

security

WHAT IS LINE CROSSING DETECTION?

Line crossing detection, also known as line intrusion, is a function of your NVR, DVR, or IP camera. It instantly detects any motion in a set area. This set area is personally set by you for your alert needs. You will get immediate alerts to your smart device from your camera. For example, say you want to get notified when someone pulls through your driveway or walks up to your front door. You would go into the software of your camera and start drawing specific lines across your driveway or walkway up to your house. This line is only a visual perimeter, so it is not visible to the human eye in person. If the line that you personally set becomes breached, you will get a notification through the app or to your email depending on which option you choose. You can set line crossing detection to work on schedules and during certain hours of the day. This is great if you are planning on going away because you can set it for every day you’re away and get notified if someone enters your property.

There are also sensitivity settings for line crossing detection. You may not want to be notified if a cat or other small animal enters your set area, therefore you would just adjust the scale to only be notified for larger objects. Get the protection your home needs by having a security system that notifies you when someone is at your home who isn’t supposed to be there. With footage from your security cameras, you now have proof of exactly what is happening when you aren’t there. Most home alarms are linked to central station monitoring for a small monthly fee that alerts the proper authorities once it’s set off. If you are planning on having someone stop by your home while you’re away, you can disarm it right from your smartphone and arm it again once they leave. Take it easy on your vacation by knowing Central Jersey Security Camera’s has your home safe and secure.

Listed below are some of the alarm systems we offer:

Security Alarm System Keypads
Keypads are an important part of your security system. They allow you to arm the system with a secured code. They can be placed wherever you need them most and are easy to use. Keypads feature emergency buttons that allow you to call for help immediately. If you are planning on having somebody watch your house or someone is staying home while you’re away, let them have peace of mind knowing that help is just the press of a button away. In the case of a power outage the buttons are lit still allowing you to view our keypad.

Door and Window Sensor
According to the NBFAA, 56% of burglars enter through a door, another 23% through the first-floor window. Door and window sensors are placed in these areas of vulnerability. When the contact is broken, the alarm is triggered.

Motion Detectors
Motion detectors are triggered when someone walks in view of the detector. If intruders enter your home through a door or window that is not protected by a sensor, the motion detector will act as a trap ensuring they don’t stay at your home for long. Motion detectors can be turned off when you are home while your windows and doors can still remain secured.

Panic Buttons
Panic sensors are designed to go just about anywhere. This sensor allows you to activate a 24-hour emergency alarm. Call for help with just a push of a button.

Alarm Sirens
An alarm siren provides peace of mind for you and acts as a deterrent for would-be intruders. When the alarm sounds an intruder will most likely leave your property as soon as possible.

Don’t spend your vacation being stressed and nervous about what could be taking place at your home. Take it easy and enjoy yourself to the fullest while you’re away. Let Central Jersey Security Camera’s help make that happen. You will be able to have peace of mind knowing exactly what is taking place in your home right from the palm of your hand. Central Jersey Security Camera’s is BBB accredited. Live your life to the fullest this vacation season while still ensuring your home and your valuables are safe and secure. Not only does Central Jersey Security Cameras have a help tab on our website that has step by step videos for you to follow along with, we also offer technical support as well. Protect your Elderly Loved Ones – Consider a Security Camera System to Keep Your Family Safe!

elderly couple

Adult communities have a lot of perks ranging from their clubhouses filled with different activities to no longer needing to shovel snow or mow your own lawn. Although this is a great option for the elderly to live, we still need to ensure that their homes are safe and protected. What is stopping someone from breaking into your gated community home?

Typically, adult communities have decorative gates and fencing at the entrances and around the community. Would this really stop a determined burglar from just parking somewhere nearby and walking right in or hopping the fence? The elderly are a target for burglars because they can usually easily overpower them and take their valuables without much of a fight. An elderly man from St. Louis, Missouri is currently recovering from a burglary that happened inside his home on April 19, 2019. The elderly victim was sitting outside on his porch when a masked man approached him and pulled out a gun. The victim was then forced inside his home and struck in the face with the gun. The burglar stole the victims’ cell phone and other belongings before fleeing the scene. This incident was caught on an interior security camera the victim had inside his home. Capturing these unfortunate events on the camera will give the authorities a better picture of those responsible and will show them exactly what took place. Let’s keep our elderly parents safe and secure with the help of Central Jersey Security Cameras.

Keep an eye on those who matter to you

Do your parents or grandparents live in a gated community? Installing security cameras in their homes will be a huge relief knowing that you can check on them if they aren’t answering your phone calls or you haven’t heard from them in a couple of days. Not only will security cameras protect your loved ones by being a deterrent for intruders, but they reek the benefits much more than that. By installing security cameras in their homes, you will be able to actually see what they are up to. Unfortunately, burglars and thieves aren’t the only people that raise concern when thinking about your elderly parents living alone. Have you considered getting a home health aide to go to their home? You need to make sure that whoever you choose to take care of your elderly loved ones are giving them the proper care they need while also treating them with respect and dignity. We can set up nanny cams in their homes so you will be able to actually see what is taking place if a home health aide does go to their home. We all worry about our elderly loved ones when we can’t physically be there with them. Not only will security cameras give you peace of mind knowing that your loved ones are okay, but it can also be lifesaving for them. With security cameras placed inside the home, you will be able to see mom cooking in the kitchen while ensuring she’s safe around the stove. With the placement of outdoor cameras, you can check in and see that dad is safe while out in the yard or walking up the front steps. Everyone needs that added home security no matter what age, however with today’s advanced technology there are many benefits to installing security systems for our elderly loved ones.

Be alerted

Wouldn’t it be nice to get an alert sent to your phone when someone walks up to your parent’s house or pulls into their driveway? Well, now you can! With our professionally installed HD security cameras, we have a feature called line intrusion we can set up to your cameras. Line intrusion works by setting your own area in which you would want to be alerted if it became breached. For example, if you want to receive an alert to your phone when someone pulls into your parent’s driveway you would go into the software and draw lines in the front of the driveway. These lines are only set by you, therefore, they aren’t visible to the human eye. There are also sensitivity settings that you have the option to adjust. If you don’t want to be alerted if a rabbit hops into their driveway you would simply adjust the sensitivity setting to measure larger objects. If the set area becomes breached, you will receive an alert right on your smart device. Line intrusion is a free bonus to having your security cameras professionally installed by us.

How Secure is Your Business at the Jersey Shore?

1

With the Summer months quickly approaching, be sure to keep your place of business on the Jersey shore safe and secure. With the beaches, boardwalks, arcades, and restaurants our state has to offer it’s no surprise that it gets much more populated here during the Summer months. People from all over travel here to New Jersey to spend their Summer breaks and enjoy our wonderful weather and nice beaches. Beach towns see thousands of people every day in the Summer which can be stressful for those who own a business down the shore. Let us here at Central Jersey Security Cameras help in ensuring that your place of business is as safe and protected as possible, even when you aren’t there.

Why should I have cameras at my business on the shore?

There are many reasons why installing security cameras at your business is beneficial to you and your employees. You will be able to keep an eye on your employees and the people entering your business throughout the day even when you aren’t there. People tend to let loose during the warmer months and spend a lot of their free time at the shore. Our beaches and boardwalks are a huge attraction for people of all ages. Many of our boardwalks here in New Jersey offer arcades, places to eat, boardwalk games, rides, and several bars. Many people spend their weekends at the boardwalks for a good time and to grab a few drinks with friends. Alcohol can alter people’s decision-making skills and can cause people to act in rowdy and irresponsible ways. Make sure your business and the people in it are as safe and secure as possible. Not only are security cameras beneficial during the Summer months, they will give you peace of mind during the Winter as well. Of course, the boardwalks aren’t as busy once the colder months come, but you will be able to make sure your business is safe. You should make sure your business is being watched around the clock all year long. With the installation of security cameras, you will be able to capture if any theft, violence or rowdy behavior is happening in your business, thus allowing you to contact the proper authorities. Let our technicians here at Central Jersey Security Cameras help you in deciding which cameras best suit your business to keep it safe and secure.

What is the best option for me to secure my business?

With the installation of security cameras, you will be able to keep an eye on your business even when you aren’t there. Trying to keep track of every single person who enters your workplace can be overwhelming and almost impossible. Let Central Jersey Security Cameras help! Our well-trained technicians will help you in deciding which of our products will work best for your place of business and help in choosing the best placement of the cameras while also meeting your budget and your needs. Our NVR, DVR, or IP cameras all have a feature called line crossing detection, or intrusion detection. Line crossing detection instantly detects any motion within a certain set area. This area is personally set by you and is only a virtual line that you created, therefore it is not visible to the human eye. If a motion is detected in the area that you have set, you will automatically receive an alert right to your smart phone. Make sure you know who is at or around your place of business before, during, and after hours. The technical support personnel are available in our offices daily to answer any questions you may have about the functionality of your system.

Stores and businesses use a wide variety of cameras to monitor the people entering and exiting their buildings. These cameras are used to reduce theft and to improve the overall safety for everyone in the building. Not only do business owners install security cameras to keep an eye on their merchandise, they also install them to keep an eye on their employees. Unfortunately, not all dangers to your business come from just customers. 64% of all small businesses fall victim to employee theft, and fraud. Many losses that come from employee theft are cash losses, with $20,000 being the average loss. Having security cameras in your place of business will deter people from stealing and will allow you to contact the proper authorities in the case that an individual does steal or is involved in risky behavior in or around your business. Let our technicians here at Central Jersey Security Cameras install cameras pointing at your registers to ensure the cash going in and out of your store daily is being properly handled. Security equipment such as locks, video intercoms, access control, and security cameras can help act as barriers or even a deterrent to crime. With the use of personalized ID’s and key fobs, it makes it nearly impossible to enter the vicinity of your office space without proper clearance. Technology like this is what gives business owners peace of mind and helps in ensuring that their business is safe and being well taken care of when they aren’t present. Keeping your business safe and protected can be a stressful job. Let Central Jersey Security Cameras can give you peace of mind, call us today and have your business evaluated for a security surveillance system.

2Here are a few tips to help reduce risky behavior at your business:

  • Conduct a background check on your employees
  • Install an access control system allowing employees to enter only areas needed for them to do their jobs
  • Place security cameras around areas where money is exchanged or kept
  • Make daily bank deposits to minimize the amount of cash on the premises
  • Close and lock doors to areas where valuable products or supplies are stored. Use fencing and locked gates to protect equipment and supplies kept outdoors

Can the cameras view clearly at night?

An infrared security camera has infrared lighting (light from a different region of the electromagnetic spectrum than we normally use to see) installed around the outside of the lens of the camera. This lighting allows the camera to capture a good image with no light. With a little bit of light (called low light) the infrared camera can capture a picture that looks just like daytime. Keep in mind that even at nighttime there is normally some light from the moon, stars, or street lights which will allow the camera to capture a clear image.

Infrared cameras do not do well in outdoor housings because the infrared light reflects off the glass of the housing. Some people get acceptable results if the camera is flush with the glass. An alternative solution is to use a day/night camera which has an extra sensitive imaging chip that allows it to capture a good picture in low light situations without using infrared lighting. This works well for example if there are street lights outside or an exterior light that can be left on at night. Cameras without infrared light will not capture an image without any light.

The level of light required to capture a good picture is referred to as a camera’s lux, the lower the lux the better the camera can see in the dark. For example, a camera with 0.003 lux is better than a camera with 0.2 lux. Infrared cameras are also compared by how far they can see in total darkness. We sell cameras that see in total darkness over 120 feet at night. People use infrared security cameras for businesses that have the lights out at night (in case of break-ins) or for outside night time viewing.

We also offer a variety of alarm systems, some of which are listed below:

Keypads feature emergency buttons that allow you to call for help immediately. Back lit buttons allow you to see your keypad when the power is out.

If intruders enter your business through a door or window that is not protected by a sensor, the motion detector will act as a trap ensuring they don’t stay in the building for long. Motion detectors can be turned off when you are on the premises while your windows and doors can remain secured.

Spring Break: A Safe, Fun, Exciting Time…Right?

Spring Break: A Safe, Fun, Exciting Time…Right?

1

With Spring quickly approaching make sure you know what is going on in and around your home and/or place of business. Spring Break is a huge time for people to celebrate the warm weather, breaks from school, and the fact that the Summer months will soon be here. It’s a time where families and friends get together and spend many afternoons by the pool, at the boardwalk, or just taking it easy. It is also a very popular time for high school and college students to throw house parties. With popular towns like Seaside, Asbury, Belmar, Wildwood, and Point Pleasant, our state becomes a very fun place to celebrate. Although it is a very exciting time for everyone, most parents don’t get off from work to keep an eye on what’s going on at home. Don’t you want to make sure your home and the people in it are safe and secure? Allow us here at Central Jersey Security Cameras to help!

What are the risks during Spring Break?

Its no surprise to many of us that a lot of Spring break parties consist of underage drinking. Statistics from the Office of Juvenile Justice found that people between the ages of 12-20 drink 11% of alcohol consumed in the U.S. The National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAA) did a study in 2014 that determined almost half of all college students binge drink and take it to the extreme during Spring break. Another study done by the American College of Health determined the average college male drinks about 18 drinks per day on Spring break while the average college female drinks up to 10. These numbers are well over the safe level of alcohol consumption. With the installation of security cameras in your home it will deter your high schoolers and college kids from throwing parties this Spring break and make them second guess the choices they make when you aren’t home.

Are there other risks we should be concerned about?

-Half of full-time college students have reported drinking, using prescription drugs, or using illicit drugs during Spring break

-More than 690,000 students (ages 18-24) have reported being assaulted by an individual who has been drinking

-More than 97,000 students (ages 18-24) have reported experiencing some form of sexual abuse from an individual who has been drinking

-Over 599,000 students (ages 18-24) have had unintentional injuries as a result of alcohol consumption

-Theft is extremely common during Spring break because a lot of people leave their wallets and purses in unsecure places while partying

Let us here at Central Jersey Security Cameras help in ensuring that your home and the people in it are safe. Not only do we offer security cameras and alarms, we also offer a feature called line crossing detection, or intrusion detection. This is a function of your DVRNVR or IP camera. Line crossing detection instantly detects any motion in a certain “set”, which is a set area that is personally set by you for your alert needs. It will send immediate alerts to your smart device directly from the DVRNVR  or IP camera. For example, you want to know when someone or something enters your driveway? So, you go into the software of your DVRNVR or IP camera and start setting up specific areas by drawing lines across the driveway. Of course, these are not visible lines to the human eye since it is only a virtual line or perimeter you have created, but it acts just as good as a virtual tripwire. You will be able to set this to work on a schedule for when you aren’t home. Keep track of the people entering your home when you aren’t there.

2

My Kid? NEVER…!

Certainly, we should hope and trust that our children will make safe decisions and be responsible this Spring break. Unfortunately, peer pressure plays a big role at high school and college parties. A lot of times teens and young adults feel that they should engage in risky behavior just because “everyone’s doing it” or because “its cool” to fit in which can result in bad decision making especially when alcohol is involved. Let’s work together to ensure that your children make responsible decisions this Spring break by installing security cameras inside your home!

I have a pool and a huge backyard; how will I be able to see what’s going on outside?

Here at Central Jersey Security Cameras we have the proper equipment to fit everyone’s needs. Our team of well-trained technicians would be happy to install security cameras on the outside of your house and yes, even by your pool! We have a wide selection of dome cameras and bullet cameras that are weatherproof and waterproof so you will still be able to clearly view what is going on in or outside of your home. The main difference between both dome and bullet cameras is their appearance. Bullet cameras are recommended for outside mainly because of its double EXIR Infrareds built into some models thus causing the night vision to be extended an additional 40 to 50 feet.

Products

I own a business, should I be concerned about Spring breakers?

Beach towns become much busier once the weather gets warmer. If you own a business near the beach or on the boardwalk, we can help to ensure that your place of business is safe and secure during and after hours. A lot of teens and college students tend to let loose and be carefree during Spring break, which can unfortunately result in them becoming rowdy and irresponsible. Not only is the boardwalk a popular place for Spring breakers, it is also very busy for those celebrating Easter! Seaside, Point Pleasant, and Wildwood offer Easter egg hunts right on the boardwalk. Jenkinson’s boardwalk in Point Pleasant is also offering an Easter 2-for-1 sale on amusement ride tickets. April is a very busy time for our beach towns and boardwalks, make sure your protecting one the places that matters most to you.

With the installation of security cameras on the inside or outside of your business you will be able to view any suspicious behavior that may take place. It is extremely difficult to keep an eye on everyone that enters and exits your place of business, especially when you’re working in a highly populated area. Shops located near and on the boardwalk see thousands of people each day during the warmer months. With the installation of security cameras, you can feel more comfortable knowing that you have an extra set of eyes to catch any risky behavior, and you will also be able to contact the proper authorities in the case that something does happen.

4

I rent out my home during the Spring and Summer months, should I be worried?

The warmer months are a very popular time for people to rent vacation homes, especially here at the Jersey Shore. With places like Wildwood, Seaside, Point Pleasant, and more, our state becomes much more populated during the Spring and Summer months. Keep track of what is happening in your rental homes when they are being occupied by tenants. With the installation of security cameras, you can ensure that your home is being respected and well taken care of while being rented out this Spring break season. Our team of technicians can help you in deciding which camera’s best fit your needs and place them in the common areas of your home (driveways, front and back doors, the garage, stair wells). However, cameras will not be placed in changing rooms, bathrooms, bedrooms, and laundry areas in order to respect your tenant’s privacy.

How will installing cameras help in keeping our children safe this Spring break?

Of course, Spring break is worth celebrating! But we must ensure that our children are doing it in a safe and responsible way. Here at Central Jersey Security Cameras our well-trained team of technicians can help you in choosing the proper equipment for your home. Our remote view cameras are very popular and will allow you to see what is taking place in your home by viewing it on your smart phone, tablet, or computer. This will show you a clear live video of what is happening and will allow you to take action in the case that you need to. We also offer a feature called line crossing detection. This feature will send you an alert right to your phone when somebody walks up to your front door or pulls into your driveway. Line intrusion is a nice feature for having your cameras professionally installed. Surely it will help ease your worries and concerns for who is in your home when you can’t be there to see for yourself.

Can I save footage from the cameras?

Record all events in “real time” as they happen. Receive push notifications or text messages of real-time video from your security equipment. Watch your home live when you’re not there from smartphones or other portable devices. Keep an eye on what’s going on in your home during this popular party season and feel comfortable knowing exactly what is taking place at that exact time.

If an event were to occur, for example, somewhere within a 24-hour period but you’re not quite sure when the event happened, you can jump around to time frames with our event schedule. This appears as a color-coded event list. It allows you to jump ahead to all motion triggered events, thus making your search much quicker. If your cameras are set to record all the time, even with nothing moving in front of them, it could shorten the life of the hard drive space. With the event schedule you could save space and lengthen the time on your NVR/DVR.

I’m not too tech savvy, what if I need help after the install?

Not only does Central Jersey Security Cameras have a help tab on our website that has step by step videos for you to follow along with, we also offer technical support as well. Our well-trained technical personnel are in our office daily to answer any questions you may have about your security system. Out technicians receive monthly training on our security products to keep their knowledge fresh. They will explain the process of the installation before starting the job and will make it a point to keep you informed on all progress. They will also provide you with a full tutorial at the conclusion of the install.  We do our best here at Central Jersey Security Cameras to ensure that you have all the information you need to be able to properly use your system.

The Homeland Security Grant Program is comprised of three grant programs:

  • State Homeland Security Program (SHSP)
  • Urban Area Security Initiative (UASI)
  • Operation Stone Garden (OPSG)

Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) Nonprofit Security Grant Program (NSGP) provides funding support for target hardening and other physical security enhancements to nonprofit organizations that are at high risk of a terrorist attack and located within one Fiscal Year 2018 Urban Area Security Initiative (UASI)-designated urban areas. Funding can be used for the acquisition and installation of security equipment on real property (including buildings and improvements) owned or leased by the nonprofit organization, specifically in the prevention of and/or protection against the risk of a terrorist attack. Eligible applicants may apply for a maximum of $150,000.00 per organization and eligible categories now include Equipment, Training, Planning, & Exercise

The Homeland Security Grant Program (HSGP) plays an important role in the implementation of the National Preparedness System by supporting the building, sustainment, and delivery of core capabilities essential to achieving the National Preparedness Goal of a secure and resilient nation.

As stated by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, these four areas of mission-supporting responsibilities are what drive the Homeland Security Grant Program:

  • Protecting the United States from terrorist threats is the founding principle and highest priority.
  • Securing the Nation’s southern and northern borders along with air and sea ports of entry.
  • Facilitating legal immigration and naturalizing new Americans, while prosecuting those who violate the country’s laws.
  • Helping communities prepare, respond and recover from all facets of disaster.

Many places of worship are used also as youth centers, daycares, and schools, so it is also our top priority to ensure that all these facilities are as safe for the public as possible. The first lines of defense that all organizations such as churches, synagogues, temples, mosques and non-profit facilities need to have today are locked doors with a buzz in system.  These doors should have a camera pointing at the person at the door with an intercom system. With the buzz in system in place, a person at the door can state why they are there and actually show their ID before the doors are opened. Here at Central Jersey Security Cameras, we sell cutting-edge access control systems such as CDVI Atrium as one of our top selling products. Access control is a way of limiting access to a system or to physical or virtual resources. In computing, access control is a process by which users are granted access and certain privileges to systems, resources, or information.

In access control systems, users must present credentials before they can be granted access. In physical systems, these credentials may come in many forms, but credentials that can’t be transferred provide the most security. For example, a key card may act as an access control and grant the bearer access to a classified area. Because this credential can be transferred or even stolen, it is not a secure way of handling access control.

A more secure method for access control involves two-factor authentication. The person who desires access must show credentials and a second factor to corroborate identity. The second factor could be an access code, a pin or even a biometric reading.

There are three factors that can be used for authentication:

  • Something only known to the user, such as a password or pin.
  • Something that is part of the user, such as a fingerprint, retina scan or another biometric measurement.
  • Something that belongs to the user, such as a card or a key.

For computer security, access control includes the authorization, authentication, and audit of the entity trying to gain access. Access control models have a subject and an object. The subject, the human user, is the one trying to gain access to the object – usually the software. In computer systems, an access control list contains a list of permissions and the users to whom these permissions apply. Such data can be viewed by certain people and not by other people and is controlled by access control. This allows an administrator to secure information and set privileges as to what information can be accessed, who can access it and at what time it can be accessed.

One of the latest and greatest features we have to offer is a feature that unfortunately today is becoming more necessary in our everyday lives, “building lockdown” feature. For example, this would allow the organization to press either a fixed or mobile button to instantaneously lock down the entire facility by locking every single-entry door in the building. This feature would allow an organization to fortify the building so no unauthorized persons would be able to enter.

lts_platinum_ip_network_turret_camera_cmip1142-28
Cameras should be placed at each exterior entrance of the facility as well, so the front desk can see who is moving around the outside of the facility at all times. A greatly useful feature that we must not forget about is our Line Crossing Detection Systems. A Line crossing detection, or intrusion detection, is a function of your DVRNVR or IP camera. What it does is that it instantly detects any motion in a certain “set”, which is a set area that is personally set by you for your alert needs. In essence, what it will do is activate the area when the area or line is breached and send you a notification either directly through the app or to your email, whichever option you choose. You can even have audible alerts right on site through an external siren or right from the DVR or NVR.
You can set this to work on schedules, certain hours during the day, certain days during the week or if you are on vacation and will be away from your place of worship, school, organization, business or even home and you want to be alerted when someone or something breaches your “set” area or areas. While both High Definition and IP cameras or the use of an NVR in conjunction with IP cameras will both do the job, there is more flexibility with the NVR and IP cameras in terms of having multiple cameras set up for line crossing/intrusion detection. There are also sensitivity settings that do adjust to meet your needs. For example, you may not want to know when a cat or small animal crosses the line, so you would adjust the scale to measure for larger objects.

Next, would be proper placement of cameras inside the facility. Each hallway and stairwell need to be protected. Cameras inside the facility keep your guests protected on so many levels. Many of these organizations also double as a school or even host after school care programs. Schools are now even adding cameras to the actual classrooms. This is often the proof to show parents how their child is behaving in the classroom, or proof of how a teacher may interact with your child. Cameras in the classroom often serve as not just protection for the child and the teacher, but to go back and see how both teacher and child can improve in the future. They will protect your children from bullies, protect teachers from falsely being accused of something and can protect your child from a teacher that may not be treating your child right.

Keep in mind, when choosing a company to install cameras and alarms at your facility that a company that offers a package is not really your best bet. You want to go with a company that will come to each location and does a safety audit to best meet the needs of each facility. A safety audit is something that should be done at least once a year to ensure all the systems are working properly and are still meeting your facility’s needs. This audit of the facility should not just be limited to security cameras and alarms. It should also include every point of entry and door access protection. Another tool your organization can use when looking for the company that is going to install your security system is to look them up in the Better Business Bureau. You want to use a company that is BBB accredited so you can look back on the company’s track record. Keep in mind too, when choosing the company or any company that may work in your schools, be sure that the staff is all background checked. Central Jersey Security Cameras/Jersey Shore Security will come work with your organization and their budget to best protect your most valuable assets. Our staff is background checked and highly trained in the installation of all aspects of security systems. Central Jersey Security Cameras is Better Business Bureau Accredited A+. Helping the Elderly Protect Their Homes!

Protecting your home or elderly parents’ home from home invasions

old-people-616718_1920

Gated communities are great with all of their club houses filled with activities and the convenience of no longer needing to cut your lawn or shovel snow in the winter but… how protected is your home in a gated community? What stops someone from getting into your gated community home?

Most of these communities here in NJ are gated at the entrances and around them are decorative fencing, if they have any at all. What would truly stop someone from just parking somewhere near by and walking right in and finding a way to break into and over power someone in one of these homes? Unfortunately, this past week in Lakewood, NJ this is what seems to be the case, an elderly couple at 55+ The Enclave were beaten, tied up with duct tape, and robbed.

Installing security cameras in the homes of your elderly parents and/or grandparents to be able to check in on them is starting to sound like a great idea now, isn’t it? Not only can these security cameras protect your elderly loved ones from intruders, but they reek the benefits of much more than just that. We all think of security cameras to keep our homes safe from intruders or to watch our children at home with the babysitters/nannies, but have you ever thought of how they protect the elderly as well? By installing cameras in the homes of your elderly parents and/or grandparents, you will be able to check in and SEE them and know what they are actually up to. Do you worry about your elderly loved ones when you are not physically with them? Not only will having security cameras give you that peace of mind knowing what your parents or grandparents are doing, but it can also be lifesaving for the elderly! With security cameras placed in the interior of the home, you can watch mom in the kitchen cooking and keep checking in that she is still safe around the stove. You can check in on the camera located by the steps and be sure dad did not fall as he has become more unstable in his walking. Everyone needs the added home security no matter the age of the home owners, however, with the advance in todays technologies, there are added safety bonus for our elderly loved ones to think about.

KEEP AN EYE ON YOUR LOVED ONES

Would you like to keep a watchful eye on mom or dad to know they are safe? Home security cameras installed in a few key spots in the home can help you make sure mom or dad are protected and safe in their home. Have you been thinking of having a home health aide come to the home, but you are unsure of the treatment your loved one will get from them? We can set up nanny cams in their home, so you can be sure your loved ones are being treated the way they should be. With today’s technology, the possibilities are endless.

Businesses without alarms are 4.5 times more likely to be burglarized than those that have an alarm system installed. They are also four times as likely to be burglarized as homes. Your business is a much more tempting target to burglars than your home. But, burglars don’t like getting caught. Eight in ten convicted burglars said they would look for a security camera or an alarm before attempting a burglary. If they found an on-site surveillance system, 60% said they would seek an alternative target.

Make sure your home looks occupied if you leave for an extended period of time. Home owners that add an alarm system to their home are four times less like likely to be victimized. With the advances in today’s technology, we are able to make it look like we are home, even when we are not. With the ease and convenience of the UltraSync home automation, you are able to do just about everything you do at home from the palm of your hand on your smart phone. Check to make sure the doors are locked. Turn on the lights to deter a potential burglar. Come home to comfort.

How safe is your car? Protect your vehicles with a home security system!

Over the past few years car burglaries have decreased, but we have seen a fair amount of them in 2018. Theft from parked cars is one of the most common complaints received by police in residential neighborhoods. According to the U.S. Department of Justice statistics, these types of crimes make up 36 percent of all larcenies reported to the police. Thefts from vehicles usually involve small dollar values in terms of the property that is stolen, but they also take up considerable police resources and increase residents’ fear of crime. Having security cameras on your home is often the number one deterrent in stopping a burglar. If you want to find out how secure your home is, give Central Jersey Security Cameras a call. We can help you to decide what security system is best to fit your security needs or we can fill you in on how to improve your existing security.

Stolen cars create an inconvenience, generate higher insurance costs, and financial losses for car owners as well as the risks to the safety of police officers and other motorists from stolen vehicle pursuits.

Cars are generally stolen for one of three purposes:

  1. For temporary transportation, such as use in another crime or for “joyriding”
  2. To strip the car of its valuable parts for resale
  3. To re-sell it, often disguised as a legitimate car

Where and when cars are parked are probably the most significant factors that offer opportunity to thieves. Cars are typically safer in driveways rather than parked on streets, but this will depend to some extent on the length of the driveway, shrubbery, lighting, and other factors that affect natural surveillance. Most car thefts occur on the street outside the victim’s home. A car parked on the street is much more likely to be targeted by criminals than a car parked in a driveway. Vehicles are safer in a garage, more at risk in a driveway, and much more at risk on the street.

Because suburban residential areas are relatively quiet and safe, residents can become unconcerned about car security. They may leave their car doors unlocked or leave their keys in the ignition. Unsecured cars, cars with valuables left in plain view, poor house and street lighting and vegetation or other features that provide concealment for thieves are commonplace. Oftentimes, their homes’ exterior lighting is wholly inadequate. Tall shrubbery and other brush on the premises can provide thieves with cover. An entire neighborhood filled with unlocked cars and poorly lit homes, with plenty of places to hide, is an inviting scene for a thief. Residential subdivisions surrounded by rural lands and that are not served by public transportation are less likely to suffer from car crime. Thieves would have to travel to the location, and then walk around in an unfamiliar neighborhood where they are more likely to appear out of place and attract suspicion. These areas often have no sidewalks, so pedestrian traffic in general draws attention. Probably the most effective response for car owners is not to park their cars in the open streets or driveways. Of course, many car owners, especially in more densely populated residential areas, are forced to park on the streets because they do not have garages or driveways. The capacity to prevent theft of cars and their components is limited, especially when cars are parked on the street where they are easily accessible at any time of the day.

Thefts of and from cars in suburban residential areas generally occur at night. This is because it is the time most cars are present, as well as the fact that the darkness provides cover for the thieves. In residential areas that contain multi-family apartment complexes, parking lots can be vulnerable to thefts during the day because there are so many people using the lots, thus providing anonymity to the offender. Some special events that draw large numbers of vehicles to an area also generate high volumes of thefts from cars.

Frequently, thefts from cars occur in clusters. Numerous burglaries may be reported during the early morning hours when thieves have already passed through a neighborhood looking for property to steal. In general, two kinds of property are stolen: personal items and car components. Personal items that owners may leave in their cars include loose change, laptop computers, portable music players, and wallets or pocket books. Personal valuables inside the passenger compartment accounted for 35 percent of items stolen, while stereo components made up 27 percent of the stolen items. Compact discs as well as car stereo parts and accessories can easily be traded for cash at second hand music stores or pawnshops. These items can also be difficult to trace. Few owners take the time to record the serial numbers of after-market stereo components.

150827_TRAVEL_OldRentalCar.jpg.CROP.promovar-mediumlarge

In general, older model cars are more often stolen than more recent models because fewer of them contain built-in anti-theft devices. However, newer models may be targeted for theft if they contain expensive components that are in great demand. Each year, $1.255 billion in personal items and accessories are stolen from vehicles in about 1.85 million thefts; and for every theft, experts estimate, there are several break-ins and attempted break-ins. With these tips and preventative measures, you can greatly reduce the chances your vehicle will become a target.

10 tips to help protect your vehicles from burglary:

  1. Lock your doors, roll up your windows. Thieves often look for unlocked cars, as well as sheds and garage doors that are left open. While this piece of advice should be a no-brainer, up to a quarter of vehicle thefts are from unlocked cars. Even if you’re running into the store for a Coke, that’s too long to leave your vehicle’s contents open for the taking. Simply locking the doors will deter those who might just be waiting around for an easy target. Close your windows and sunroofs.
  2. Take your valuables. Don’t leave your valuables in the vehicle, or in plain sight. Make sure you take out your phones, pocketbooks, purses, and even your change. In today’s day and age, change has been something taken out of cars more often than you would think. Don’t leave any bait out for thieves; stow your electronics and accessories well out of sight, or better yet, bring it with you. The evidence alone might be enough to pique the interest of theieves, so hide that too, including power plugs, telltale iPod adapters, or nav-system windshield suction cup mounts, and even put the cigarette lighter back in place.
  3. Hide your things. Stash before, not after you park. Get in the habit of putting shopping bags in the trunk right when you return to the vehicle, rather than after you park at the next place. Thieves sometimes linger in busy parking lots looking for valuables being moved out of sight. Don’t display to them what you have. Almost any worthless personal item that’s visible from the outside – even an empty shopping bag – could be seen as a valuable or a carrier of valuables. If you have a wagon or SUV that leaves your cargo area on display, consider getting a cover. Most of these vehicles can be fitted with inexpensive retractable covers to help keep shopping bags or belongings out of sight.
  4. Turn off your car. Yes, this seems like a no brainer, but all too often we see cars left running in front of our local convenience stores, such as wawa or even in our neighbor’s driveway. It is almost like your car is there saying “take me, I’m already running and the keys are in here”.
  5. Never leave the keys. Years ago, a close family friend made a joke about when you are out, you never leave the person that has the keys so you always know you have a ride home. This is true in so many ways. Make sure you keep your keys with you for the simple fact that they often have more then just your car keys on there. They often have your house key on them as well. So, by leaving your keys behind, not only are your saying “hey, take my car” but now you are also saying, “hey, why not stop by my home and help yourself there too”.
  6. Park in secure and visible areas. ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS, park your car in a well lit area! Parking in a secure area does not only protect your belongings, but can also protect you and your family from the dangers that may be lurking. Avoid concealment from larger vehicles, fences, or foliage. Except for the most brazen thieves, the greater that chances are that someone might see a crime in progress, the lower the chances are that potential thief will attempt it.
  7. Car alarms. If you have a car alarm, don’t forget to activate it. It’s as simple as that. And don’t forget if you are in the parking lot and feel you can be in danger, hit that car alarm button. Often the alarm will scare away the would be attackers.
  8. Get a vehicle locator. For stolen vehicles, consider having some type of vehicle locator installed.
  9. Report anything suspicious. Better safe then sorry! If you see something suspicious, REPORT IT!
  10. Add home security cameras. For your home, consider adding surveillance cameras that can capture any car thefts or burglaries on film and help find the thieves and get them off our streets.

Unfortunately, in many densely populated areas, thefts from cars go uninvestigated if there is no information from the victim as to the identity of the perpetrator. The fact that streets and the driveways attached to them are accessible to everyone makes cars very vulnerable. This is when having a surveillance camera system can benefit you. Not only are security cameras a deterrent to burglars, but they can also help you to identify the perpetrator. Central Jersey Security Cameras motto is “get them before they get you”. Do just that by having a surveillance camera system installed on your home.

Many of our New Jersey business and home owners are installing surveillance systems with line crossing detection. With security cameras placed at your home, you can see everything that’s going on in and around your home right in the palm of your hand. Never miss a beat, you can have the line intrusion alerts sent right to your phone.

crossing-the-line

WHAT IS LINE CROSSING DETECTION?
Line crossing detection, or intrusion detection, is a function of your DVR, NVR or IP camera. What it does is that it instantly detects any motion in a certain “set”, which is a set area that is personally set by you for your alert needs. It will send immediate alerts to your smart device directly from the DVR, NVR  or IP camera. For example, you want to know when someone or something enters your driveway? So, you go into the software of your DVR, NVR or IP camera and start setting up specific areas by drawing lines across the driveway. Of course, these are not visible lines to the human eye since it is only a virtual line or perimeter you have created, but it acts just as good as a virtual tripwire. In essence, what it will do is activate the area when the area or line is breached and send you a notification either directly through the app or to your email, whichever option you choose. You can even have audible alerts right on site through an external siren or right from the DVR or NVR.
You can set this to work on schedules, certain hours during the day, certain days during the week or if you are on vacation and will be away from your home or business and you want to be alerted when someone or something breaches your “set” area or areas.

Having security cameras installed on your home is often the number one deterrent in stopping a burglar.  A home that is well lit with home security camera signs prominently posted will often be passed by because no burglar wants to be caught on security surveillance. With the advances in today’s home security cameras, often the local authorities can identify or get a good look at who is committing crimes in an area by going to the home owners and retrieving the footage from their home security cameras. Today’s security cameras can send you an alert right to your phone and notify you when someone is somewhere they are not supposed to be just by having the line crossing detection perimeters set up around your home. Many of our New Jersey business and home owners are installing surveillance systems with line crossing detection. Sure, you’d love to be there and see for yourself, but unfortunately, you cannot be everywhere all the time. With security cameras placed at your business or in your home, you can see everything that’s going on in and around your place of business and home right in the palm of your hand. Just like in any place of business, owners often want and need to know how productive their staff is. This also protects the staff from unwarranted, untrue claims that someone may make against your business, once again, it’s all now recorded from the security cameras placed in your business. Not only will security cameras help you keep an eye on your place of business and home, you may also need to know when the midnight delivery you’ve been waiting on for your place business arrives, or maybe there’s an area of your business employees are not supposed to be accessing, so you would set up a virtual intrusion area at your door. Never miss a beat, you can have the line intrusion alerts sent right to your phone.

Just like all other seasons, make sure to lock your doors when you leave the home, check that your cameras and alarms are working properly and make sure your home looks occupied if you leave for an extended period of time. Homes that add an alarm system to their home with security cameras are four times less likely to be victimized. Double up on your home security as well as your security at your place of business!

Businesses without alarms are 4.5 times more likely to be burglarized than those that have an alarm system.

Here are a couple quick tips that can help reduce burglary at your place of business or home:

  • Clear your entrances and windows of trees and shrubs that block views from the street and/or provide a hiding place for thieves
  • Secure your doors with sturdy deadbolt locks or padlocks
  • Install bars or gates on windows to help prevent them being broken and used as an entry
  • Motion sensor-activated lighting and alarms can also help deter burglars

Today’s alarm systems are more than just a loud shrieking noise when they go off. All of our alarms are either connected to Central Station Monitoring or are set up to send alerts directly to your smart device, or you can even set it up to do both. Having your alarm connected with Central Station Monitoring will alert the proper authorities when the alarm is triggered. There’s no such thing as too much security!
With advances in alarms this past year with the launch of the new Ultra Sync alarm home automation system, you can now not only be alerted when someone is at your home and place of business, but right from the palm of your hand, you can use your smartphone to do much more! Just to name a few key features you can use right from your smartphone:
• You can turn your lights on and off at your home or place of business.
• You can lock and unlock your doors.
• You can control your thermostat.

According to the FBI, there’s a burglary every 12 seconds. Those thefts annually combine for more than $3.1 billion in property and personal loss. So how do burglars get into your business? Six of ten burglaries involve forcible entry, about a third of those were unlawful entries. The rest, a little over six percent, were attempted forcible entries. The primary ways in which they gained access were through open windows or doors or by forcible entry through windows or doors. Only about one in eight burglars reported picking locks or using a key they had previously acquired. Not surprisingly, most commercial burglaries occur at night, weekends or holidays when many businesses aren’t open. What’s more enticing to a burglar than nobody being there to stop them?

Unfortunately, not all dangers to your business come from the outside. 64% of all small businesses fall victim to one of the biggest threats, employee theft and fraud. While some and hopefully most of the theft being minor office supplies, that isn’t always the case. Majority of losses that come from employee theft are cash losses, with $20,000 being the average lost. That’s not something a business owner should have to worry about while they aren’t present. Have security cameras installed pointing at the register, this way you can see the cash as it is being handled and know it is going to the proper location and not your employees pockets. Security equipment such as locks, video intercoms, access control and security cameras can help act as barriers or even a deterrent to crime. With the use of personalized ID’s and key fobs, it makes it nearly impossible to enter the vicinity of your office space without proper clearance. Technology like this is what keeps the piece of mind that a business owner needs to operate without any worries. Keeping your business safe and protected can be a job by itself, a stressful one at that. Central Jersey Security Cameras/Jersey Security Solutions can give you peace of mind, call us today and have your business evaluated for a security surveillance system.

Here are a few tips that might help you to reduce your chances of becoming a statistic:

  • Conduct a background check on prospective employees
  • Install an access control system allowing employees to enter only those areas needed for them to do their jobs
  • Place security cameras around areas where money is exchanged or kept
  • Make daily bank deposits to minimize the amount of cash on the premises
  • Close and lock doors to areas where valuable products or supplies are stored. Use fencing and locked gates to protect equipment and supplies kept outdoors

With summer now in full swing, it’s time to think of your home security.

IMG_9595

With summer now in full swing, it is time to think of your home security. Are your kids home for the summer? Are they old enough to be left at home alone, but you still worry they are safe? Do you have a summer vacation planned or even a stay-cation where you are going to take a few day trips and be away from home? Are you just a busy New Jersey family with your family booked up with summer sporting events? If you answered yes to one or more of those questions, then it is time to think about your home security.

We have all taught our kids to never open the door for a stranger. However, as adults most of us do not take those same safety precautions before answering the door. In today’s society, you can’t trust that the person on the other side of the door is a friendly visitor. Of course, we all want to go to the door and just answer it to see who is there, but today you have to be smart and think back to telling your children why they can’t just whip the door open, you just don’t know who is there or what their intentions are.

Here are a few home security tips for today’s busy families:
• Use a security camera to see who is at the door. Make the camera visible. A camera could deter someone with devious intentions. The camera itself will allow you to see who is at the door.
• You may want to consider having an alarm installed and have your key fob in your hand when you decide to answer the door. If the person at the door makes you feel you are in danger you can hit your panic button to dispatch the police.
• Interact with the visitor using an intercom. This is an effective and affordable way to talk with a stranger without actually answering the door.
• Trust your instincts, your instincts are often right so, if your gut is telling you that something is wrong, then don’t open the door!!

The advances in today’s home security systems have now reached a new level and have become even more user friendly to today’s busy families. The UltraSync alarm now provides complete home protection from the inside out. The system easily incorporates additional security and home safety devices for extra peace of mind so you can now check on the following all through live-streaming video via UltraSync indoor/outdoor cameras or with text alerts:
• Make sure the kids got home on time.
• Check in on contractors.
• See how your pets are behaving.

Come Home to Comfort: Your home can be ready for you at just the right time by automatically adjusting:

il_570xN.1442268779_op3s
• Thermostats – Adjust your home to the temperature that satisfies you. In the summer, turn down the air conditioning to get it nice and cool before you even step into the home. In the winter, turn the heat up to make it toasty and warm inside for you after that chilly walk from the car.
• Turning on lights – Nobody likes to walk into a dark home. Be prepared for the unexpected day trips that turn into all day affairs. You can have the lights turned on before you even step foot into your home, but the advantage of that is to also make it look like you are home even when you are not to deter a potential burglar.
• Unlocking doors as you arrive (Using the geo-location technology in your UltraSync system paired with your smartphone’s GPS.) – Long trips to the grocery store sometimes means you don’t have a free hand to unlock the door with your keys as you are carrying in all those bags.
