Summer in the Garden State

This is the weekend that many residents of the tri-state area look forward to. The official summer kick off on the Jersey Shore! Central Jersey Security Cameras has been busy working with home owners and businesses all around the Jersey Shore. We have installed full home security systems consisting of home security cameras and alarm systems, homes with full home automation, home surround sound, home theaters and outdoor audio systems. Over the cold winter months, our crews have worked hard keeping the coast of the Jersey Shore safe and secure for these customers…

Asbury Park, NJ

asburyOver the past few years it’s been nice to see Asbury Park once again become a growing summer hot spot on the Jersey Shore, in fact it was just named the 2nd best beach in the world! Central Jersey Security Cameras has been helping home owners and business owners secure their properties before the summer rush. One thing we have enjoyed over the winter months is seeing the beautiful old homes come back to life in this town. Home owners have been installing the Ultrasync alarm panel in their homes and in their Asbury Park business. In addition to Ultrasync alarm systems, many residents and business owners are making their homes and business secure with surveillance systems. Asbury Park police have now asked home owners and businesses to register their surveillance cameras with the police department as a tool to keep crime down in this area. Many New Jersey towns, such as East Brunswick and Edison, have already adopted this program and now Asbury Park is looking to become one of the 1st Jersey Shore towns to do this.

Belmar, NJ

belmarBelmar is known as one of our beloved beachy towns here in New Jersey. Belmar has cameras facing towards the beach known as the ‘surfers view’ which is very useful to the surfers and the beach goers. You get to see what’s going on before taking the ride down the shore. This has become so popular that other beach towns are starting to catch on as well. Central Jersey Security Cameras has held a presence in Belmar over the winter. We have done security camera installations at the hotels that tourists would vacation at as well as the condo’s and homes of our locals that like to make themselves at home down the shore for the summer months. Central Jersey Security Cameras has helped to keep the business owners at ease and their patrons safe by upgrading and maintaining their security systems as well.

Spring Lake, NJ

welcome-to-spring-lakeA beautiful town in New Jersey filled with many pristine summer homes and cute shops and cafes to visit along the shore. Many of the shops in the business district have now added surveillance to their business.Home owners in the area have found that using their security cameras have been a great tool to let them know what’s going on with the weather before they go down to the shore for the weekend or they enjoy the ease of checking on these homes when they can not be there. This past week Central Jersey Security Cameras has worked with the Spring Lake Manor, a popular wedding/banquet facility, getting their surveillance system updated for the busy summer season.Home owners in Spring Lake have utilized alarm systems Central Jersey Security Cameras have installed by using the feature on the

Ultrasync alarm that allows the home owner to open doors remotely or to give someone only limited access to their home by only allowing their code to work on their alarm certain times of the day assigned by the home owner. For example, if a home owner has a weekly care taker to come into the home at 12pm every Thursday, that will be the only time that their code will work in the alarm panel. This is a great feature that protects you from having to hand out keys to your home that can be lost and protects you from having staff come back to your home that no longer are employed by you in the future.

Point Pleasant, NJ

Point Pleasant Beach -1Point Pleasant is a year-round family town. Many, when they think of this town, think it’s a fun summer family destination. As this is true, there is also a large growing population of this town that is now filled with families year-round. In fact, the high school was just added to the list of great high schools in New Jersey. With the growth of Point Pleasant becoming a year-round primary residence for many home owners more of the businesses in Point Pleasant are now operating year-round as well. Central Jersey Security Cameras has worked with numerous home owners over the years installing home security. We are proud to say that has now expended to customers on the Jenkinson’s Boardwalk and businesses in the Point Pleasant Boro. We have installed security camera systems and alarm systems in boutique stores, doctors’ offices and restaurants.

Long Branch, NJ

long-branch-pier-village-modern-shopping-area-nj-33650712Another town that has remodeled itself along the shore of New Jersey is Long Branch. Pier Village in Long Branch is filled with restaurants and shops that overlook the ocean and was the beginning of the rebuild of this sea side town. Central Jersey Security Cameras has installed surveillance cameras in restaurants, liquor stores, marinas and for home owners in the area. In addition to surveillance cameras, we have also installed Ultrasync alarm panels in many of these locations to provide our customers with dual protection of both security cameras and security alarms.

Seaside, NJ

DSC_0345To many, Seaside Heights would be looked at as the party that never ends. With the popularity of the “Jersey Shore”, this town was made even more of a party town and brought to life more of the Seaside party scene.  Yes, Seaside is home to many of the bars and clubs that would attract us all summer long, but it does consist of much more than that. Seaside Heights is home to one of the infamous boardwalk’s that many businesses run on. As a business owner, the merchandise these boardwalk stores sell is of high value and they are not open all year round like a typical business would be. Much like the businesses, there are also many residents that have their summer homes and beach houses in Seaside Heights. As one of those residents, wouldn’t it be convenient to be able to check in on your summer home all throughout the year without taking the trip down the shore? If the answer is yes, give Central Jersey Security Cameras a call.

A second part to Seaside, NJ is Seaside Park. Seaside Park is filled with family friendly beaches and rental homes for the summer season. Many of the Seaside Park rental home owners have had Central Jersey Security Cameras install exterior cameras to the homes to watch that the homes are being kept in good shape during the times they are being rented. These surveillance cameras will also become the evidence of what take places around the property if there are damages to the property.

Island Beach State Park, NJ

island beach Island Beach Park is right past Seaside Park and is a beautiful state park that Central Jersey Security Cameras has had the pleasure to work at. We have over the years worked installing cameras in and around the toll booths as you enter the park and our staff has even enjoyed a few company outings at this beach. On your way from Seaside Park to Island Beach, there is a small area of homes on mid-way beach. These bungalow homeowners have been installing security cameras to watch what happens around their homes. Many of them use their surveillance systems to check on weather damages throughout the winter when storms come up the coast. The same systems help these homeowners monitor when they are not there in the summer months and possibly rent out their midway bungalows, that their tenants are caring for their homes the way it should be.

Brick, NJ

brickOften Brick is a forgotten beach town. Many of the year-round residents like to keep it that way and it’s not a big summer Benny town like many of its nearby Point Pleasant. Brick is a town that runs along the coast of New Jersey and comes inland and touches parts of Lakewood and Howell. Bick is filled with family homes, marinas, and restaurants. Central Jersey Security Cameras has installed cameras around marinas in Brick to help the marina owners keep an eye on the marina all day and night with the line intrusion feature. Line crossing detection or intrusion detection is a function of your DVR, NVR or IP camera. What it does is instantly detect any motion in a certain “set”, set by you. It will send immediate alerts to your smart device directly from the DVR, NVR or IP camera. This is a function that homeowners enjoy having too because it will send the alerts to your phone that you set when your children arrive home or when your mail is delivered.

Mantoloking, NJ

mantoloking_bridgeJust south of Brick is Mantoloking. Mantoloking is a borough in Ocean County that was just named one of the richest towns in New Jersey. With a title of New Jersey’s richest town, you know these homeowners need to secure their homes. Not only does Central Jersey Security Cameras secure these homes with state of the art home security cameras and alarms, we also have installed outdoor audio systems around pool areas and homeowners backyard decks for their enjoyment.

Toms River, NJ

toms-river

Since then, Central Jersey Security Cameras has installed security cameras in Five Guys in Howell NJ, Manalapan NJ, Shrewsbury NJ and Manalapan NJ and in Ocean NJ.

Ocean City, NJ

Central Jersey Security Cameras has worked with several homeowners and hotel owners in the area installing surveillance cameras this past winter. Our company has worked with a hotel chain in the area installing an outdoor audio sound system to enhance its pool area and bring this hotel in more clients.

Wildwood, NJ

wildwoodWildwood is a resort city on the New Jersey coast. It sits on a barrier island known for its wide, sandy beaches. The iconic sightseer tram car runs along the long Wildwood Boardwalk, which is packed with eateries, shops, waterparks and thrill rides. Wildwood has a wide variety of hotels and summer home rentals that Central Jersey Security Cameras has worked with, installing our security camera systems to protect the tourist coming to “ The wildwoods”.

Spring is Coming

Seems like this weekend spring will finally show its face around central New Jersey. The days are getting longer, and everyone seems to start to come outside after the long winter. Everyone is making spring home improvement plans to get their homes ready for summer. One thing we love to do at our home each year is to start planting flowers and shrubs around our property. However, after working for a security company for many years, I know to think twice before I plant anything around my home. Working for Central Jersey Security Cameras over these years has taught me a thing or two about home security and keeping my family safe. Don’t get me wrong I love planting each spring and do add a shrub or two to my home each year, I just now choose where I plant my additions more wisely. I have a home security system on my home with security cameras throughout the perimeter of my home and now when I plant I take into consideration and ask myself “will the shrub I plant ever block my camera’s views as it grows?” I also think about the shrubs and the effect it will have on the lighting around my house. As these shrubs grow, will it affect the lighting around my home and give my yard dark spots that can make it easier for a would-be intruder to come up to my home? Keeping my family and home safe is a priority for me. I run alarm tests on my home alarm system monthly and I make sure my security cameras always have clear views of my home and the surrounding areas. Making sure your equipment is working properly and making sure you do not add shrubs to an area that will block your camera’s views are just a few quick ways that I help keep my family and home safe.

Here are some spring home safety tips:

• Keep your home lit: Even with it staying brighter longer in the spring it is still important to keep your home lit up so a person lurking around our home can be seen.
• Lock your doors: Ensure all your door and window locks around the home are working and are not loose. When you’re out of the house, increase your privacy and security by closing blinds and curtains. This can help deter criminals from looking in your house and coveting your things.
• Test your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors: Replace any batteries that are dead. If your units are more than 10 years old, it is time to replace them! It’s also a great time to test your alarm system if you have one. There are 5 simple steps which can be found
• Spring can get hot: If you are putting in window air conditioning units this spring, make sure you stabilize and secure the units so that they cannot easily be taken out by a criminal or fall out on their own inviting criminals to your home. If you have central air and cooling, have your system serviced before you begin to use it.

Do you have small children that live in your home? How about elderly parents or grandparents?
With spring comes warmer weather. With warmer weather, the desire to be outside increases. With that being said, you’d naturally want to keep an eye on your elderly loved ones while they sit outside drinking their coffee reading the newspaper. Maybe they even have a green thumb of their own and are out planting in the yard. Sure, you’d love to be there and see for yourself, but unfortunately, you cannot be everywhere all the time. With security cameras placed at your elderly loved one’s home or in your home, you can see everything that’s going on in and around the home right in the palm of your hand.
Not only will security cameras help you keep an eye on the older generation, you may also need to know when the kids get home from school, so you would set up a virtual intrusion area at your front door. For your older children that don’t need a sitter, the bus rolls in to drop them off while you’re still at work. Sure, they’re going to want to play outside on their own and you’re going to want to make sure they don’t stray out of the yard and keep an eye on them. Make sure they’re not getting themselves into trouble by having line intrusion alerts sent right to your phone.
WHAT IS LINE CROSSING DETECTION?
Line crossing detection, or intrusion detection, is a function of your DVR, NVR or IP camera. What it does is that it instantly detects any motion in a certain “set”, which is a set area that is personally set by you for your alert needs. It will send immediate alerts to your smart device directly from the DVR, NVR  or IP camera. For example, you want to know when someone or something enters your driveway? So, you go into the software of your DVR, NVR or IP camera and start setting up specific areas by drawing lines across the driveway. Of course, these are not visible lines to the human eye since it is only a virtual line or perimeter you have created, but it acts just as good as a virtual tripwire. In essence, what it will do is activate the area when the area or line is breached and send you a notification either directly through the app or to your email, whichever option you choose. You can even have audible alerts right on site through an external siren or right from the DVR or NVR.
You can set this to work on schedules, certain hours during the day, certain days during the week or if you are on vacation and will be away from your home or business and you want to be alerted when someone or something breaches your “set” area or areas. While both High Definition and IP cameras or the use of an NVR in conjunction with IP cameras will both do the job, there is more flexibility with the NVR and IP cameras in terms of having multiple cameras set up for line crossing/intrusion detection. There are also sensitivity settings that do adjust to meet your needs. For example, you may not want to know when a cat or small animal crosses the line, so you would adjust the scale to measure for larger objects.

Homes that add an alarm system to their home with security cameras are four times less likely to be victimized. Double up on your home security. Today’s home alarms are more than just a loud shrieking noise when they go off! All of our alarms are either connected to Central Station Monitoring or are set up to send alerts directly to your smart device or you can set it up to do both. Having your alarm connected with Central Station Monitoring will alert the proper authorities when the alarm is triggered. There’s no such thing as too much security!
With advances in alarms this past year with the launch of the new Ultra-sync alarm home automation system, you can now not only be alerted when someone is at your home but right from the palm of your hand, you can use your smartphone to do much more! Just to name a few key features you can use right from your smartphone:
• You can turn your lights on and off at your home.
• You can lock and unlock your doors.
• You can control your thermostat.
Spring is also that time of year where the weather goes from hot to cold, cold to hot. Being able to control your thermostat from your phone is super convenient! Now you’ll have your home set to the right temperature while we battle the weather, not knowing if we need our home to be warmer on the cool days or cooler on the warm days.

SPRING CLEANING

It’s that time of year some of us love and some of us dread. Spring cleaning! While you are doing your spring cleaning in and around your home, this is also an appropriate time to check the batteries in all your detectors and make sure there are no excessive amounts of dust in your detectors. This is also an appropriate time to check with your security company to make sure everything is up and running properly. It is important to be aware of the dangers that follow a faulty detector. As the warm weather creeps up on us we tend to forget to make sure we are safe! In the event of an emergency, you want to be ready for the worst with the best plan in mind starting with the swift notification from an alarm or detector.

DOES YOUR SCHOOL SECURITY GET A PASSING GRADE?!

Today we are living in an uncertain world, and just sending our children off to school is scary. With the recent events in this country this past month, you need to ask the question, “how can we keep our children safe?”. With three school shootings taking place in one week; Texas, New Orleans and Kentucky; it marks the 11th school shooting of 2018 and we’re only one month into the new year, what can we do to make our school’s safer?

It’s scary to think of all the safety measures that need to go into place today in our schools. The first lines of defense that all schools need to have today are locked doors with a buzz in system. These doors should have a camera pointing at the person at the door, along with an intercom system. With the buzz in system in place, a person at the door can state why they are there and show their ID before the doors are even opened. Here at Central Jersey Security Cameras, we sell cutting edge access control systems such as CDVI Atrium as one of our top selling products. Access control is a way of limiting access to a system or to physical or virtual resources. In computing, access control is a process by which users are granted access and certain privileges to systems, resources, or information.

In access control systems, users must present credentials before they can be granted access. In physical systems, these credentials may come in many forms, but credentials that can’t be transferred provide the most security. For example, a key card may act as an access control and grant the bearer access to a classified area. Because this credential can be transferred or even stolen, it is not a secure way of handling access control.

A more secure method for access control involves two-factor authentication. The person who desires access must show credentials and a second factor to corroborate identity. The second factor could be an access code, a pin or even a biometric reading.

There are three factors that can be used for authentication:
• Something only known to the user, such as a password or pin.
• Something that is part of the user, such as a fingerprint, retina scan or another biometric measurement.
• Something that belongs to the user, such as a card or a key.
For computer security, access control includes the authorization, authentication and audit of the entity trying to gain access. Access control models have a subject and an object. The subject, the human user, is the one trying to gain access to the object – usually the software. In computer systems, an access control list contains a list of permissions and the users to whom these permissions apply. Such data can be viewed by certain people and not by other people and is controlled by access control. This allows an administrator to secure information and set privileges as to what information can be accessed, who can access it and at what time it can be accessed.

One of the latest and greatest features we have to offer is a feature that unfortunately today is becoming more necessary in our everyday lives, “building lockdown” feature. For example, this would allow a school to press either a fixed or mobile button to instantaneously lock down the entire school by locking every single-entry door in the building. This feature would allow a school to fortify the building so no unauthorized persons would be able to enter.

Cameras should be placed at each exterior entrance of the school as well, so the front desk can see who is moving around the outside of the school at all times. Next would be proper placement of cameras inside the school. Each hallway and stairwell needs to be protected. Cameras installed inside the schools keep your children protected on so many levels. They will protect your children from bullies, protect teachers from falsely being accused of something and can protect your child from a teacher that may not be treating your child right. Many schools are now even adding cameras to the actual classrooms. This is often the proof to show parents how their child is behaving in the classroom, or proof of how a teacher may interact with your child. Cameras in the classroom often serve as not just protection for the child and the teacher, but to go back and see how both teacher and child can improve in the future.

Here are all the school shootings so far in 2018:
• January 3: A 31-year-old man shot and killed himself in the parking lot of his former elementary school in Michigan.
• January 4: Shots were fired at New Start High School outside Seattle. No one was hit or hurt.
• January 5: A bullet from a pellet gun shattered the window of a Forest City, Iowa, school bus full of students while in transit. No one was injured.
• January 9: A 14-year-old male student killed himself in the bathroom of an elementary school in Arizona.
• January 10: A bullet hit a building at California State University, San Bernardino. No one was injured.
• January 10: A student at Grayson College in Texas accidentally fired a bullet during a gun training session with an instructor. No one was hurt.
• January 15: Police in Marshall, Texas, responded to reports of gunfire just after midnight on the Wiley College campus. A stray bullet entered one of the dormitories, but no one was hit.
• January 20: A Winston-Salem State University football player was shot and killed during an event at Wake Forest University.
• January 22: A 16-year-old shot and injured a female student several times at Italy High School in Texas.
• January 22: Someone in a pickup truck fired at a group of students gathered in front of Net Charter School in New Orleans. One boy was injured.
• January 23: A 15-year-old student at a high school in Kentucky shot and killed two students and injured 17 others.
There was also a student shot outside a Jersey City school at dismissal. A Lincoln High School student was shot near an elementary school at dismissal time. The 10th grade student was shot just one block away from where the student attends high school. Both schools were placed on lock down following the shooting.

School shootings have become all too familiar in the wake of massacres at Virginia Tech in 2007 and Sandy Hook Elementary School in 2012 that sparked outrage but little policy change. U.S. schools have already faced 11 shooting incidents this year. Within one week’s time, these unfortunate events have taken place in Texas, Kentucky & New Orleans. A student bringing a gun onto school property and firing at peers or teachers seems to occur most often, though that’s not always what happens. Two of the shootings this month were later identified as suicides. And in one instance, a 32-year-old man shot at a school bus with a pellet gun.

Gunfire ringing out in American schools used to be rare, and shocking. Now it seems to happen all the time. On January 22nd, a school cafeteria outside Dallas and a charter school parking lot in New Orleans. And before that, a school bus in Iowa, a college campus in Southern California, a high school in Seattle. The scene in Benton, Kentucky, on January 23rd was the worst so far in 2018. Two 15-year-old students were killed, and 18 more people were injured. But it was one of at least 11 shootings on school property recorded since January 1st, and roughly the 50th of the academic year. Our nation’s schools should be some of the safest spaces in our communities.

Most of the incidents were suicides and resulted in no injuries, but they highlight communities’ growing concerns about guns and school safety. At this point last year, there had been five school shootings nationwide. Twenty-four shootings — nearly one in six — occurred after a confrontation or verbal argument intensified, because of the presence of a gun rather than in spite of it. Every town said it’s also fairly common for a school shooting to result from a confrontation or verbal argument that escalates. Regardless of the individuals involved in a shooting, or the circumstances that gave rise to it, gunfire in schools and at colleges and universities undermines the sense of security that all students should have in their learning environments. By tracking this data, every town hopes to begin a reasoned discussion about effective means to promote school safety. Of shootings perpetrated by minors at primary and secondary schools and for which the source of the firearm was known, more than half of the kids obtained the gun at home, likely because an adult did not store it locked and unloaded.

Experts have also begun to document the effects that fatal school shootings have on students. “These incidents can affect students’ decision about whether to stay at their school, affect their cognitive skills, and influence their behavior at school,” according to a 2015 study titled “The Effect of High School Shootings on Schools and Student Performance”. Authors Louis-Philippe Beland and Dongwoo Kim found that enrollment in ninth grade drops following a deadly shooting, as do standardized test scores in math and English for up to three years after a shooting.

A quarter of U.S. parents said they fear for their children’s safety while they are at school, according to an August 2017 Gallup survey. Parents’ concern about children’s safety reached a high after the 1999 Columbine shooting and has spiked sporadically in the wake of other major school shootings.

Here are some words spoken by the parents of the children stuck inside the school during these incidents:
“I still want him to come because he’s learning so much here. This is a great school, he’s improved so much here.”

Another parent said she hopes to see some changes to ensure nothing like this will ever happen again.
“We don’t need this happening when they’re in school, when they’re trying to learn,”

“But it’s a scary thing to have happen at your child’s school, you drop your child off at school and you don’t except this kind of thing to happen, you expect them to be safe at school.”
“I’m just aggravated that you can’t even go to work or school without something like this happening,”

The only thing your child should have to worry about is their grades and who their date to the dance is going to be… they should not have to worry about their safety! They should be able to walk around school knowing they are safe. Your child should not have the fear of looking over their shoulder as they walk from class to class. They should be able to traipse right down that hallway to the girl they have been anxiously and eagerly awaiting asking to the next school dance. Let’s make schools safer!

SHOOTINGS ARE NOT THE ONLY SAFETY ISSUES IN SCHOOLS:
A STABBING

A stabbing also occurred within the first month of the new year. The incident on Thursday, January 18th, occurred in a classroom at New Rochelle High School around 8:50 a.m., when a 15-year-old boy asked to use the bathroom, stabbed a 16-year-old boy twice in the torso on his way toward the door, then ran out of the school. It is unclear what the victim was stabbed with because no weapon was recovered at the scene.

The victim told police that he is not sure why he was stabbed by the suspect, whose name has not been released and who has a violent past. Police said they know the suspect from an assault in May 2016, when he stabbed another student in the chest during a fight outside Isaac E. Young Middle School. The suspect had a lengthy history of behavioral issues even before the 2016 stabbing. Police have not found any connection between the stabbing and an assault that took place a day earlier, when the stabbing suspect was attacked by a group of teenagers in Gemelli Pizzeria on North Avenue. The stabbing suspect was uncooperative after he was attacked in the pizzeria on Wednesday afternoon, and no one has been arrested in that incident, which he said involved bottles and chairs being thrown.

A FIRE
Two students have been charged with setting fire to the boys’ bathroom at Veteran’s Memorial Intermediate School in Vineland earlier this month, police said. A small fire in the boys’ bathroom activated the sprinkler system, which then resulted in flooded conditions on the school’s ground floor. The two 14-year-olds face a charge of arson in the January 2nd fire that forced students and staff to be evacuated sending the student body out into frigid conditions, when an alarm sounded. No injuries were reported, and the damage was minimal and confined to the bathroom, police said. Students returned to the school soon after the fire, police said.

Today we are living in an uncertain world, and just sending our children off to school is scary. With the recent events in this country this past month, this is how we can keep our children safe. We’re only one month into the new year, and there has been so much tragedy. Being halfway through the academic year, it’s time to start planning to get the security your school needs.
Keep in mind, no two schools are the same when choosing a company to install cameras and alarms to your schools. A company that offers a package is not really your best bet. You want to go with a company that will come to each school and does a safety audit to best meet the needs of each school. A school safety audit is something that should be done at least once a year to ensure all the systems are working properly and are still meeting your school’s needs. This audit of the school should not just be limited to security cameras and alarms in the school, it should also include every point of entry and door access protection. Another tool your school board can use when looking for the company that is going to install your security system is to look them up in the Better Business Bureau. You want to use a company that is BBB accredited so you can look back on the company’s track record. How Secure is the ATM you use?

dcx_doc6ygg3b8kpug317l7eqj
Thieves have found yet another way to victimize people and steal their savings directly from the bank’s ATM machines. This directly affects the account holder since all money being withdrawn is right from an unsuspecting individual’s account. This is called “jackpotting” and while we associate this term mostly with a positive outcome, this is certainly the opposite. Basically, what happens is someone on the back end at a remote location is hacking the banks secure servers and accessing the ATM’s functions allowing them to access your account and programming the ATM to spit out your savings directly from the machine while an accomplice waits in front of the ATM for your savings to wind up in their hands.

Obviously, the best way to combat this is to build an “unhackable” network… until that time what can the banks do other than addressing the network’s vulnerability? Well, placing up to date security cameras at all ATM machines with the highest quality image with interactive facial recognition, self reporting real time security cameras with system integration. Explained in a simpler form, cameras that have the highest possible resolution such as I.P. cameras equipped with a feature that can store a person’s face that can be labeled as a suspicious person and when that person appears in front of the camera again it will send a real time notification that can effectively trigger alarms and alert either the authorities or directly to the institution for information gathering.

Believe it or not there are still a lot of banks with very low-resolution cameras or even non-functioning cameras at their ATM machines. Security cameras won’t solve every problem, but are a very effective resource as a preventative or post measure to deter thieves or gather footage. The time has come to arm yourself with high quality security cameras for your home and business. There has never been a better time between the quality and pricing of the cameras.

Keep in mind its just as important to choose the right security company as it is to choose the right cameras. Cameras that have the highest possible resolution such as I.P. cameras equipped with a feature that can store a person’s face that can be labeled as a suspicious person and when that person appears in front of the camera again it will send a real time notification that can effectively trigger alarms and alert either the authorities or directly to the institution for information gathering.

Summer Vacation Security Importance

This is the time of the year is when many New Jersey families think of going on summer vacations. This is also the time of the year many NJ beach town hotel / resort owners in Sea Side Heights, Sea Side park, Belmar, Spring Lake, Wildwood, Wildwood Crest, Ocean City, Cape May, Sea Girt, Avon by the Sea, Bradley Beach all start to gear up for the busy summer season. With only 39 days until the unofficial start to the summer season in NJ Memorial Day weekend is right around the corner. How ready are your hotel / resort security surveillance systems?

The Importance of Having Hotel / Resort Security Cameras: for the Hotel / Resort Owner and Hospitality Staff

Hotels/Resorts are huge places, and have many areas that have potential for a customer to injure themselves due to their own careless mistake. Hotel-goers could even become injured because a staff member neglected to do their job, and didn’t maintain an area. Security surveillance will help prove who or what may be at fault, and help protect your hotel/ resort investment. Below, you will find a few more of the most common reasons why security cameras are needed in hotel/ resorts:

-Slip and Fall Claims-

In a perfect world we would like to believe everyone will tell the truth and not be dishonest however, not everyone will tell the truth, and some will try to take advantage of an opportunity to cash in on money from the hotel or resort. Security Cameras will be the proof the hotel needs to actually see the event that took place at the time of a slip and fall claim. The DVR/NVR’s hard drive can store up to 2 years of footage, making it more accessible to you.

-How does your Staff Work?-

Just like in any place of business owners often want and need to know how productive their staff is. This also protects the staff from unwarranted, untrue claims that someone may make against your business, once again, it’s all now recorded from the security cameras placed in the hotel/resort.

-Assaults-

Let’s face it, this is not something you often think of when you are traveling on your vacation or even on a business trip, unfortunately, this is something that does happen. Often it is high vacation areas that unwanted guests may try to get into, or near hotel guest and look to rob valuables, and may even cause bodily harm. Here is a cause where security cameras help protect the hotel customer as well as the hotel. It helps to have proof of who and how the person gained access to the location.

-Thefts-

While on vacation, someone stealing is one of the last things people often think of, but once again, it is something that takes place. When we are in the vacation mode we often let out guard down a bit, and leave our bags filled with expensive cell phones, I pads, Wallets, etc. on our beach chair, by the pool. A thief looks at this as a way to make an easy score. Hotels and resorts that have security cameras often deter these crimes from even taking place. Here once again this helps the hotel see if something took place or not to its hotel guest.

-Damage to your Hotel Claims-

This is something, unfortunately, all too many NJ shore hotels face each year, with guests over indulging in the NJ bar scene. Especially in Towns such as Sea Side Heights NJ, Belmar NJ, and Wildwood NJ. All too often, hotel guests overdo it and can potentially cause damage to the hotels they are staying in, or become unruly and authorities need to be called. Often to the hotel owner that does not have security surveillance it’s now a case of he said she said, or relying on other guest testimonials of what took place. Hotels that are now equipped with hotel security cameras now have the proof they need for insurance, and for the authorities

Keeping Your Home and Business Safe, How Prepared are You?

Jackson, Watchung , Cranford, Morris Township, Scotch Plains, South Plainfield, Linden, East Brunswick, South Brunswick, North Brunswick, Manalapan, Wayne, Pompton lakes , and Elmwood park NJ what do each of these NJ towns have in common? They have all had homes that have been burglarized since January 2017. So, why is it important to point out the above towns have all had homes that have been burglarized when in the United States there is a home broken into every 15 seconds what makes these towns stand out in the news?
As of January 2017 NJ has a new bail reform, under the new rules nearly all defendants are expected to be released back out into the public with no monetary bail. This new bail reform has resulted the following headlines in the media over the past few weeks:
George Pescavage - 47 - of North Brunswick
YOU WON’T BELIEVE HOW MANY TIMES THIS ACCUSED BURGLAR HAS BEEN RELEASED
Jason Major - 34 - of Hopatcong
AUTHORITIES IN SUSSEX SEEK TO DETAIN ALLEGED SERIAL BURGLAR
Dawud Ward - 23 - of Plainfield
BAIL REFORM AGAIN TAKES HEAT FROM COPS AFTER ALLEGED REPEAT BURGLAR ARREST
Jackson, Watchung, Cranford, Morristown ship, Scotch Plains, South Plainfield, Linden, East Brunswick, South Brunswick, North Brunswick, Manalapan, Wayne, Prompton lakes, and Elmwood park NJ all have had homes that have been burglarized, and the accused burglars were all released and last least three if the same accused burglars were picked up again by law enforcement for allegedly committing the same crimes again. Scary to think with the new bail reform if your home was burglarized and the person that was caught in your home can be released, without bail, and in many cases the same day to burglarize another home, or worse try to come back and finish the job at your home.
On Average, a homeowner that was a victim of a home burglary has a loss of $2230.00. Many NJ households do not make $2230.00 in a week, how long does it take for your house hold to make that amount? Not only does a family that is victimized by a burglar stuffer a loss in a monetary amount they also suffer emotionally, in many cases. Their home may no longer feel safe.
Burglary Statistics every NJ homeowner should know
• In the US a Burglary/home invasion happens every 15 seconds
• Average loss per homeowner that has had a burglary is $2,230
• 34% of burglars enter though the front door
• 65% of Burglaries happen between 6am-6pm (while most of us are at work )
• Most Criminals can Burglarize a home in less than 10 minutes
• Most burglars start in the master bedroom
Burglars are always looking for homes or businesses that are easy targets
Homeowners and business owners alike can help protect their home or business by making a few security improvements
1. Lock your doors, and make sure all door and window locks are secure, and in proper working order
2. Install and maintain a home alarm system, have your alarm connected to a UL listed central station monitoring. (alarms are a deterrent to an intruder)
3. Look at installing a home security camera system to your home or business preferably one with intrusion detection
Intrusion detection/perimeter or area notations otherwise known as line crossing detection

• Line crossing detection, or Intrusion detection, is a function of your Dvr, Nvr or IP camera. What it does is instantly detect any motion in a certain “set”, set by you. It will send immediate alerts to your smart device directly from the Dvr, Nvr or IP camera. For example: you want to know when someone or something enters your driveway, so you go into the software of your Dvr, Nvr or IP camera and start setting up specific areas by drawing lines across the driveway, of course these are not visible lines to the human eye since it is only a virtual line or perimeter you have created. But it acts just as well as a virtual Tripwire. In essence what it will do is activate when the area or line is breached and send you a notification either directly through the app or to your email, whichever you choose. You can even have audible alerts right on site through and external siren or right from the Dvr or Nvr.
carcarcar

• You may want to know when the kids get home from school or if the delivery person is at your front door, so you would set up a virtual intrusion area at your front door. You can set this to work on schedules, certain hours during the day, and certain days during the week or if you are on vacation and will be away from your home or business and you want to be alerted when someone or something breaches you’re “set” area or areas. While both High Definition and IP cameras and the use of an Nvr in conjunction with IP cameras will both do the job there is more flexibility with the Nvr and IP cameras in terms of having multiple cameras set up for line crossing/intrusion detection. There are also sensitivity settings to adjust to meet your needs. For example: you may not want to know when a cat or small animal crosses the line so you would adjust the scale to measure for larger objects.

• Here at Central Jersey Security Cameras we offer instructional videos (below) to walk you through the entire process on setting up your security system to send you the alerts when areas are breached or lines crossed. You must remember to allow notifications on your smart device if you are being notified through the app or “surveillance center” as it is called on the software setup.

So, now you know burglars are looking for easy targets, the statistics and know with the new bail reform in NJ the average burglars even when caught can be back out on the streets to commit more damage to NJ families or NJ Business what can you do?
