Many of our New Jersey business and home owners are installing surveillance systems with line crossing detection. Sure, you’d love to be there and see for yourself, but unfortunately, you cannot be everywhere all the time. With security cameras placed at your business or in your home, you can see everything that’s going on in and around your place of business and home right in the palm of your hand. Just like in any place of business, owners often want and need to know how productive their staff is. This also protects the staff from unwarranted, untrue claims that someone may make against your business, once again, it’s all now recorded from the security cameras placed in your business. Not only will security cameras help you keep an eye on your place of business and home, you may also need to know when the midnight delivery you’ve been waiting on for your place business arrives, or maybe there’s an area of your business employees are not supposed to be accessing, so you would set up a virtual intrusion area at your door. Never miss a beat, you can have the line intrusion alerts sent right to your phone.

WHAT IS LINE CROSSING DETECTION?
Line crossing detection, or intrusion detection, is a function of your DVR, NVR or IP camera. What it does is that it instantly detects any motion in a certain “set”, which is a set area that is personally set by you for your alert needs. It will send immediate alerts to your smart device directly from the DVR, NVR  or IP camera. For example, you want to know when someone or something enters your driveway? So, you go into the software of your DVR, NVR or IP camera and start setting up specific areas by drawing lines across the driveway. Of course, these are not visible lines to the human eye since it is only a virtual line or perimeter you have created, but it acts just as good as a virtual tripwire. In essence, what it will do is activate the area when the area or line is breached and send you a notification either directly through the app or to your email, whichever option you choose. You can even have audible alerts right on site through an external siren or right from the DVR or NVR.
You can set this to work on schedules, certain hours during the day, certain days during the week or if you are on vacation and will be away from your home or business and you want to be alerted when someone or something breaches your “set” area or areas. While both High Definition and IP cameras or the use of an NVR in conjunction with IP cameras will both do the job, there is more flexibility with the NVR and IP cameras in terms of having multiple cameras set up for line crossing/intrusion detection. There are also sensitivity settings that do adjust to meet your needs. For example, you may not want to know when a cat or small animal crosses the line, so you would adjust the scale to measure for larger objects.

Just like all other seasons, make sure to lock your doors when you leave the home, check that your cameras and alarms are working properly and make sure your home looks occupied if you leave for an extended period of time. Homes that add an alarm system to their home with security cameras are four times less likely to be victimized. Double up on your home security as well as your security at your place of business!

Businesses without alarms are 4.5 times more likely to be burglarized than those that have an alarm system. They are also four times as likely to be burglarized as homes. Your business is a much more tempting target to burglars than your home. But, burglars don’t like getting caught. Eight in ten convicted burglars said they would look for a security camera or an alarm before attempting a burglary. If they found an on-site surveillance system, 60% said they would seek an alternative target.

Here are a couple quick tips that can help reduce burglary at your place of business or home:

  • Clear your entrances and windows of trees and shrubs that block views from the street and/or provide a hiding place for thieves
  • Secure your doors with sturdy deadbolt locks or padlocks
  • Install bars or gates on windows to help prevent them being broken and used as an entry
  • Motion sensor-activated lighting and alarms can also help deter burglars

UTC-Products-Hero-UltraSync_hub_phone

Today’s alarm systems are more than just a loud shrieking noise when they go off. All of our alarms are either connected to Central Station Monitoring or are set up to send alerts directly to your smart device, or you can even set it up to do both. Having your alarm connected with Central Station Monitoring will alert the proper authorities when the alarm is triggered. There’s no such thing as too much security!
With advances in alarms this past year with the launch of the new Ultra Sync alarm home automation system, you can now not only be alerted when someone is at your home and place of business, but right from the palm of your hand, you can use your smartphone to do much more! Just to name a few key features you can use right from your smartphone:
• You can turn your lights on and off at your home or place of business.
• You can lock and unlock your doors.
• You can control your thermostat.

According to the FBI, there’s a burglary every 12 seconds. Those thefts annually combine for more than $3.1 billion in property and personal loss. So how do burglars get into your business? Six of ten burglaries involve forcible entry, about a third of those were unlawful entries. The rest, a little over six percent, were attempted forcible entries. The primary ways in which they gained access were through open windows or doors or by forcible entry through windows or doors. Only about one in eight burglars reported picking locks or using a key they had previously acquired. Not surprisingly, most commercial burglaries occur at night, weekends or holidays when many businesses aren’t open. What’s more enticing to a burglar than nobody being there to stop them?

Unfortunately, not all dangers to your business come from the outside. 64% of all small businesses fall victim to one of the biggest threats, employee theft and fraud. While some and hopefully most of the theft being minor office supplies, that isn’t always the case. Majority of losses that come from employee theft are cash losses, with $20,000 being the average lost. That’s not something a business owner should have to worry about while they aren’t present. Have security cameras installed pointing at the register, this way you can see the cash as it is being handled and know it is going to the proper location and not your employees pockets. Security equipment such as locks, video intercoms, access control and security cameras can help act as barriers or even a deterrent to crime. With the use of personalized ID’s and key fobs, it makes it nearly impossible to enter the vicinity of your office space without proper clearance. Technology like this is what keeps the piece of mind that a business owner needs to operate without any worries. Keeping your business safe and protected can be a job by itself, a stressful one at that. Central Jersey Security Cameras/Jersey Security Solutions can give you peace of mind, call us today and have your business evaluated for a security surveillance system.

Here are a few tips that might help you to reduce your chances of becoming a statistic:

  • Conduct a background check on prospective employees
  • Install an access control system allowing employees to enter only those areas needed for them to do their jobs
  • Place security cameras around areas where money is exchanged or kept
  • Make daily bank deposits to minimize the amount of cash on the premises
  • Close and lock doors to areas where valuable products or supplies are stored. Use fencing and locked gates to protect equipment and supplies kept outdoors

With summer now in full swing, it’s time to think of your home security.

IMG_9595

With summer now in full swing, it is time to think of your home security. Are your kids home for the summer? Are they old enough to be left at home alone, but you still worry they are safe? Do you have a summer vacation planned or even a stay-cation where you are going to take a few day trips and be away from home? Are you just a busy New Jersey family with your family booked up with summer sporting events? If you answered yes to one or more of those questions, then it is time to think about your home security.

We have all taught our kids to never open the door for a stranger. However, as adults most of us do not take those same safety precautions before answering the door. In today’s society, you can’t trust that the person on the other side of the door is a friendly visitor. Of course, we all want to go to the door and just answer it to see who is there, but today you have to be smart and think back to telling your children why they can’t just whip the door open, you just don’t know who is there or what their intentions are.

Here are a few home security tips for today’s busy families:
• Use a security camera to see who is at the door. Make the camera visible. A camera could deter someone with devious intentions. The camera itself will allow you to see who is at the door.
• You may want to consider having an alarm installed and have your key fob in your hand when you decide to answer the door. If the person at the door makes you feel you are in danger you can hit your panic button to dispatch the police.
• Interact with the visitor using an intercom. This is an effective and affordable way to talk with a stranger without actually answering the door.
• Trust your instincts, your instincts are often right so, if your gut is telling you that something is wrong, then don’t open the door!!

The advances in today’s home security systems have now reached a new level and have become even more user friendly to today’s busy families. The UltraSync alarm now provides complete home protection from the inside out. The system easily incorporates additional security and home safety devices for extra peace of mind so you can now check on the following all through live-streaming video via UltraSync indoor/outdoor cameras or with text alerts:
• Make sure the kids got home on time.
• Check in on contractors.
• See how your pets are behaving.

Come Home to Comfort: Your home can be ready for you at just the right time by automatically adjusting:

il_570xN.1442268779_op3s
• Thermostats – Adjust your home to the temperature that satisfies you. In the summer, turn down the air conditioning to get it nice and cool before you even step into the home. In the winter, turn the heat up to make it toasty and warm inside for you after that chilly walk from the car.
• Turning on lights – Nobody likes to walk into a dark home. Be prepared for the unexpected day trips that turn into all day affairs. You can have the lights turned on before you even step foot into your home, but the advantage of that is to also make it look like you are home even when you are not to deter a potential burglar.
• Unlocking doors as you arrive (Using the geo-location technology in your UltraSync system paired with your smartphone’s GPS.) – Long trips to the grocery store sometimes means you don’t have a free hand to unlock the door with your keys as you are carrying in all those bags.

Spring is Coming

Seems like this weekend spring will finally show its face around central New Jersey. The days are getting longer, and everyone seems to start to come outside after the long winter. Everyone is making spring home improvement plans to get their homes ready for summer. One thing we love to do at our home each year is to start planting flowers and shrubs around our property. However, after working for a security company for many years, I know to think twice before I plant anything around my home. Working for Central Jersey Security Cameras over these years has taught me a thing or two about home security and keeping my family safe. Don’t get me wrong I love planting each spring and do add a shrub or two to my home each year, I just now choose where I plant my additions more wisely. I have a home security system on my home with security cameras throughout the perimeter of my home and now when I plant I take into consideration and ask myself “will the shrub I plant ever block my camera’s views as it grows?” I also think about the shrubs and the effect it will have on the lighting around my house. As these shrubs grow, will it affect the lighting around my home and give my yard dark spots that can make it easier for a would-be intruder to come up to my home? Keeping my family and home safe is a priority for me. I run alarm tests on my home alarm system monthly and I make sure my security cameras always have clear views of my home and the surrounding areas. Making sure your equipment is working properly and making sure you do not add shrubs to an area that will block your camera’s views are just a few quick ways that I help keep my family and home safe.

Here are some spring home safety tips:

• Keep your home lit: Even with it staying brighter longer in the spring it is still important to keep your home lit up so a person lurking around our home can be seen.
• Lock your doors: Ensure all your door and window locks around the home are working and are not loose. When you’re out of the house, increase your privacy and security by closing blinds and curtains. This can help deter criminals from looking in your house and coveting your things.
• Test your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors: Replace any batteries that are dead. If your units are more than 10 years old, it is time to replace them! It’s also a great time to test your alarm system if you have one. There are 5 simple steps which can be found
• Spring can get hot: If you are putting in window air conditioning units this spring, make sure you stabilize and secure the units so that they cannot easily be taken out by a criminal or fall out on their own inviting criminals to your home. If you have central air and cooling, have your system serviced before you begin to use it.

Do you have small children that live in your home? How about elderly parents or grandparents?
With spring comes warmer weather. With warmer weather, the desire to be outside increases. With that being said, you’d naturally want to keep an eye on your elderly loved ones while they sit outside drinking their coffee reading the newspaper. Maybe they even have a green thumb of their own and are out planting in the yard. Sure, you’d love to be there and see for yourself, but unfortunately, you cannot be everywhere all the time. With security cameras placed at your elderly loved one’s home or in your home, you can see everything that’s going on in and around the home right in the palm of your hand.
Not only will security cameras help you keep an eye on the older generation, you may also need to know when the kids get home from school, so you would set up a virtual intrusion area at your front door. For your older children that don’t need a sitter, the bus rolls in to drop them off while you’re still at work. Sure, they’re going to want to play outside on their own and you’re going to want to make sure they don’t stray out of the yard and keep an eye on them. Make sure they’re not getting themselves into trouble by having line intrusion alerts sent right to your phone.
WHAT IS LINE CROSSING DETECTION?

Spring is also that time of year where the weather goes from hot to cold, cold to hot. Being able to control your thermostat from your phone is super convenient! Now you’ll have your home set to the right temperature while we battle the weather, not knowing if we need our home to be warmer on the cool days or cooler on the warm days.

SPRING CLEANING

It’s that time of year some of us love and some of us dread. Spring cleaning! While you are doing your spring cleaning in and around your home, this is also an appropriate time to check the batteries in all your detectors and make sure there are no excessive amounts of dust in your detectors. This is also an appropriate time to check with your security company to make sure everything is up and running properly. It is important to be aware of the dangers that follow a faulty detector. As the warm weather creeps up on us we tend to forget to make sure we are safe! In the event of an emergency, you want to be ready for the worst with the best plan in mind starting with the swift notification from an alarm or detector.

I was looking to have security cameras installed and based on favorable reviews from the internet, I called Central Jersey Security Cameras. Soon after, I received a call back from the owner, Bob, who explained some options, answered all of my questions and even provided a rough estimate for what I wanted.
I then called back the next day with additional questions, which he patiently answered. Several days later, he came out to my house to work out the details on placement of the cameras. He also brought samples of the cameras so I could see what I was getting. He did not try to oversell me. In fact, he suggested some ways that I could save money. Overall, his pricing was better that any other estimate that I had obtained in the past.
A couple of weeks later, the installers came out and spent the whole day working. One of the workers was Justin and I believe the other two were Mike and Dave. They were all very polite, professional, neat, and and very helpful. They thoroughly explained how the system worked. I was very satisfied with the installation.
I did later notice that one of the cameras did not seem to work properly after dark and I called back and spoke with Bob. He sent out a new camera and that resolved the problem. One of the technicians who came out, Pat, was wonderful. I am not overly savvy with computers and he very patiently reviewed the camera operations and he also installed them on my computer and iPad even though he was only there to replace a camera.
Last but not least, the office staff of Heather and Tracey are always so friendly and helpful. It is such a pleasure to deal with a company that walks the walk.
If you’re looking for security cameras, I heartily recommend that you consider Central Jersey Security Cameras.

Called Central Jersey security cameras on a Tuesday, had a salesman At my house Wednesday afternoon and a proposal the same night, the work was done five days later, they sent a crew of four technicians and installed nine cameras and an alarm system in my home within seven hours, crew was courteous and friendly. Equipment is definitely what we expected, even a little more. After dealing with some sub par companies, kind of feel compelled to let everyone know that this is a real deal company and they deliver on what they say, highly recommended

Central Jersey Security cameras recently installed cameras and a alarm system in our home. I m extremely impressed with how knowable the Owner bob is and his crew that came to our home. Not being tech savvy I was worried I would not able to follow along with the equipment we were getting installed, my mind was put at ease after the lead tech Pat was very patient and went over everything for my camera system and alarm system until I knew exactly what I was doing. If you are thinking of getting home security cameras or an alarm system this is the place to call our family is very Happy.

Well folks, here’s the “4-1-1″ on this company; if you are thinking “I need security for my home or business” – end your thinking and CALL this company! Why? Simple, they do an honest day’s work, are genuinely concerned about your needs (and satisfaction) and WILL NOT leave your premise until everything is CORRECT and you understand the basics about how your new system works. Included with the installation are links to various video tutorials and the availability via telephone of service personnel, etc. should you need to review your installation, have questions, etc. If there are issues, they can always re-visit your location if not resolvable over the phone. As you may well know, TODAY, people are more interested in ripping you off, than doing an honest day’s work, for an honest day’s pay. This company (spear-headed by owner Bob Murphy) doesn’t play that game; you get what you need (professional equipment [no Bestbuy or Costco do-it-yourself junk] & professional installation) by a knowledgeable and concerned staff. Period! I’ve got seven (7) cameras and a wireless alarm system (all installed in one afternoon) and it’s looking mighty fine! Call ‘em and get er done; thank me whenever!

DID YOU KNOW CARBON MONOXIDE IS THE SILENT KILLER?!

AS TEMPERATURES DROP, CARBON MONOXIDE POISONING RISK RISES!

Carbon monoxide cannot be detected by humans without the help of a detector. Did you know that one of the most dangerous things that can hurt you and your loved ones can be hiding right underneath your nose?! By definition, carbon monoxide is a colorless, odorless, and a tasteless gas formed when a compound containing carbon burns incompletely because there is not enough oxygen. This gas is deadly to both animals and humans. Carbon monoxide is known as the “silent killer” because it is colorless, odorless, tasteless, and non- irritating.

Homes that are completely powered by electricity do not have problems with carbon monoxide. The deadly gas is only a potential threat to individuals who heat their homes or appliances with natural gas or another type of fossil fuel. Also, during power outages in the winter, some people bring gasoline powered generators inside. This is NOT a very good idea! By having a gasoline powered generator inside your home, you are exposing yourself to carbon monoxide, which explains the spike in carbon monoxide poisonings in the winter. During power outages, people are more likely to use carbon-monoxide-producing heating and cooking equipment as well as generators that may be situated close to vents, which can draw gas into the home. You may think you are keeping the family nice and warm, but you are exposing them to carbon monoxide. Keep appliances in good working order, and use them safely. Have them serviced regularly by a qualified and registered professional. Ask your utility company about yearly checkups for all gas appliances.

THE “SILENT KILLER”

If the early signs of carbon monoxide poisoning are ignored, a person may lose consciousness and be unable to escape the danger. Carbon monoxide is a silent killer. It has no smell, no taste, and no sound. Neither people nor animals can tell when they are breathing it, but it can be fatal.

CARBON MONOXIDE STATISTICS

TX-6310-01-1_1_
What goes under the radar every single year is that over 20,000 people who are exposed to carbon monoxide and survive. There are long-lasting health issues when you are exposed to carbon monoxide over a long period time. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said about 430 people die from carbon monoxide poisoning each year and 50,000 are forced to seek medical care. 94 percent of CO poisonings occur in residential properties. The highest number of carbon monoxide related deaths occur in the winter months: December, January, or February. Given 374 carbon monoxide deaths and a total U.S. population of 319 million, the mortality rate from carbon monoxide poisoning is 1.2 deaths per one million Americans. 19 states, representing 41% of the U.S. population, had enacted regulations requiring carbon monoxide alarms in at least one major category of residence. Still, relying on people voluntarily using the alarms isn’t working – the CDC reports that only 30% of American homes have functioning carbon monoxide alarms.
Conclusions: Numbers of deaths and death rates, both accidental and intentional, due to carbon monoxide poisoning significantly declined in the United States due to enacting required residential carbon monoxide alarms.

CAUSES

You may be exposed to unsafe levels of carbon monoxide by:
• Using poorly maintained or unvented heating equipment.
• Improperly vented natural gas appliances like stoves or water heaters.
• Using a gas stove, grill, or oven to heat the home.
• Clogged chimneys or blocked heating exhaust vents can stop carbon monoxide from escaping.
• Cooking with a charcoal or gas grill inside the home or other enclosure.
• Using a propane camp stove, heater, or light inside a tent.
• Running vehicles in garages or other enclosed spaces. Leaving a car in a closed garage with its engine running can produce deadly amounts of carbon monoxide within 10 minutes.
• Running generators or gas-powered tools indoors or outside near windows, doors, or vents.
• Being near boat engine exhaust outlets.
• Fumes from certain paint removers and cleaning fluids can cause carbon monoxide poisoning.
• House or building fires.
• Smoking cigarettes causes blood levels of carbon monoxide to rise.
Products that contain methylene chloride (dichloromethane) should be handled with care, because methylene chloride turns into carbon monoxide when it is breathed in.

Do you have small children that live in your home? How about elderly parents or grandparents?

Two-boys-fighting-over-toys-56799db33df78ccc154810d2
Did you know they are the most susceptible to carbon monoxide poisoning? Higher death rates were seen among black individuals, small children, and the elderly in winter months and in cold, high-altitude states. All people are at risk for carbon monoxide poisoning. Unborn babies, infants, the elderly, and people with chronic heart disease, anemia, or respiratory problems are generally more at risk than others.

• Unborn babies. Fetal blood cells take up carbon monoxide more readily than adult blood cells do. This makes unborn babies more susceptible to harm from carbon monoxide poisoning.
• Children. Young children take breaths more frequently than adults do, which may make them more susceptible to carbon monoxide poisoning.
• Older adults. Older people who experience carbon monoxide poisoning may be more likely to develop brain damage.
Carbon monoxide poisoning can be especially dangerous for people who are sleeping or intoxicated. People may have irreversible brain damage or even be killed before anyone realizes there’s a problem. Carbon monoxide detectors can be life saving!

In this tragedy, a 72-year-old woman was found unresponsive in her home along with a 5-year-old girl. Firefighters found the stove still hot to the touch and measured the highest carbon monoxide levels in the kitchen. There were no carbon monoxide detectors present and in this case a detector may have saved a life.

SYMPTOMS

Persons with carbon monoxide poisoning often overlook the symptoms.
Signs and symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning may include:
• Dull headache
• Weakness
• Dizziness
• Nausea or vomiting
• Shortness of breath
• Confusion
• Blurred vision
• Loss of consciousness

Undetected exposure can be fatal. If carbon monoxide levels are high enough, you may become unconscious or die. Exposure to moderate and elevated levels of carbon monoxide over extended periods of time has also been linked with increased risk of heart disease.
How is carbon monoxide harmful to the body? Carbon monoxide is harmful when breathed because it displaces oxygen in the blood and deprives the heart, brain, and other vital organs of oxygen. Copious amounts of carbon monoxide can overcome you in minutes without warning—causing you to lose consciousness and suffocate. Carbon monoxide binds to hemoglobin over 200 times more easily than oxygen does, so if carbon monoxide is present, oxygen will not be able to find space to get into the hemoglobin. This is because the space is occupied with carbon monoxide instead. As a result, parts of the body will be starved of oxygen, and the affected parts will die. The human body needs oxygen, but it has no use for carbon monoxide. If we breathe in carbon monoxide, it provides no benefit, but it deprives the blood of oxygen.

The warning signs of carbon monoxide poisoning can be subtle. But the condition is a life-threatening medical emergency. If you think you or someone you’re with may have carbon monoxide poisoning, get into fresh air, and seek emergency medical care. Carbon monoxide poisoning can be reversed if caught in time.

This couple had only lived in their home for two and a half weeks when they were hospitalized for carbon monoxide poisoning. The husband was treated in a hyperbaric chamber to replace the dangerous level of carbon monoxide in his blood with oxygen.

PREVENTION

Alarms_Graphic2
If household appliances are well serviced and used safely, they should produce negligible quantities of carbon monoxide gas. Using old appliances, and not servicing them frequently, leads to a higher risk of carbon monoxide emission. Keep appliances in good working order, and use them safely. Have them serviced regularly by a qualified and registered professional. Ask your utility company about yearly checkups for all gas appliances, including your furnace. This is also an appropriate time to check the batteries in all your detectors and to check with your security company to make sure everything is up and running properly. It is important to be aware of the dangers of carbon monoxide poisoning. An alarm should be placed in every sleeping area in the house and should be checked regularly.

Simple precautions can help prevent the leakage of carbon monoxide & carbon monoxide poisoning:
• Install carbon monoxide detectors. Put one in the hallway near each sleeping area in your house. Check the batteries every time you check your smoke detector batteries — at least twice a year. If the alarm sounds, leave the house and call 911 or the fire department. Carbon monoxide detectors are also available for motor homes and boats.
• Make sure all rooms are well ventilated and that vents are not blocked. Be especially careful in well-insulated environments.
• Open the garage door before starting your car. Never leave your car running in your garage. Be particularly cautious if you have an attached garage. Leaving your car running in a space attached to the rest of your house is never safe, even with the garage door open. Do not leave any other type of gasoline-powered motor running in a garage at all. For example, motorbikes, cars, or lawn mowers.
• Service the exhaust pipe in a motor vehicle every year.
• If the tailgate of a vehicle is open and the engine is running, open the doors and windows too.
• Use gas appliances as recommended. Never use a gas stove or oven to heat your home. Use portable gas camp stoves outdoors only. Use fuel-burning space heaters only when someone is awake to monitor them, and doors or windows are open to provide fresh air. Don’t run a generator in an enclosed space, such as the basement or garage. Never use a generator within 20 feet of a window, door, or vent. Be careful when using gas-powered tools and equipment inside rooms. And always wear a mask when using products that contain methylene chloride.
• Keep your fuel-burning appliances and engines properly vented. These include:
o Space heaters
o Furnaces
o Charcoal grills
o Cooking ranges
o Water heaters
o Fireplaces
o Portable generators
o Wood-burning stoves
o Car and truck engines
• If you have a fireplace, keep it in good repair. Have chimneys and flues swept thoroughly regularly by a fully-qualified sweep, at least once a year.
• Keep vents and chimneys unblocked during remodeling. Check that they aren’t covered by tarps or debris.
• Do repairs before returning to the site of an incident. If carbon monoxide poisoning has occurred in your home, it’s critical to find and repair the source of the carbon monoxide before you stay there again. Your local fire department or utility company may be able to help.

The CDC advises every household to install a carbon monoxide alarm. Some detectors have a digital readout. Others give out a loud, high-pitched sound when levels of carbon monoxide pass a certain limit. According to the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission, long-term exposure to 1 to 70 ppm of CO will not normally cause any harm, but people with heart problems may have chest pain. Levels of over 70 ppm may cause noticeable symptoms, and if they reach above 150 to 200 ppm, they may cause disorientation, unconsciousness, and death.

Is your home protected this holiday season?

laptop-karacsonyra

Your home is probably one of the biggest investments that you will ever make and it’s the one place you should truly feel the safest. This can make having your home broken into or invaded by an unwanted intruder devastating. If this unfortunate event takes place at your home, you may wonder if you will ever feel safe again in your own home. Is that a chance you’re willing to take? Why risk it? Keeping your home safe in today’s world means becoming diligent with your home’s security needs.

Often what we see at Central Jersey Security Cameras is a would-be criminal walk up to a home, look right up at the camera, and walk away. In many cases we find a neighbor or someone down the block without the protection of security cameras becomes the unintended victim of the burglar. Double up on your home security! Get yourself an alarm system and security cameras for your home. Many families in New Jersey and throughout the tristate area are doing so today.

The average home burglar loves this time of the year as we are all busy out shopping and visiting family. They know it’s that time of year that the expensive electronics make their way into your home. All those new game systems that came out just in time for Christmas, that nice big screen TV you’ve been waiting to get for yourself… they’re all enticements for these burglars. Think smart, don’t advertise your new expensive items. Dispose of their boxes properly by breaking them down and placing them in black trash bags. Your home can possibly be being watched by just about anyone like the professional burglar or the junkie looking for a quick steal to make cash fast. Don’t make it easy! No burglar wants to be caught on film on your security cameras. So, what do you do? You get your home protected!

Homes with the added protection of a home alarm system and security cameras are a burglar’s worst nightmare. Now not only were they caught on tape by the security cameras, but they now alerted the proper authorities by setting off an alarm system. Chances are they will be caught on the spot. With the footage from your security cameras, you now have the proof of what took place at your home. So, this holiday season it’s time to take action on keeping your home safe. Call Central Jersey Security Cameras and get your home protected.

HERE ARE 5 HOME TIPS TO HELP YOU SECURE YOUR HOME:

1. Take a good look at your home: Most burglars decide within five minutes whether your home is a good target for them.
-Look at your home during the day. Can just anyone look inside your home, walk up, and see no one is inside?
-Look at your home at night when the lights are on in your home. Can just anyone see that new expensive TV system you bought while looking in from the street?
Both day and night views of your home are important for a burglar to check out, so beat them to it. Take a look and get protected!

2. Examine each point of entry to your home: Today, burglars have YouTube, which has thousands of lock picking videos. These videos can help a pro get into your home, with a standard lock in many cases, in less than a minute. A window can be broken in less than a minute as well. Here is where you need to take a close look at adding a home alarm system to your house. If someone opens a door or breaks a window, (as long as you have glass breaks or motion sensors), your home alarm will sound, in many cases scaring the burglar away, and the proper authorities will be on their way to your home.

3. Be careful what you post on social media: Going away with the family for Christmas and think it’s a good idea to brag to your friends? Think again. This is social media – even with the “friends only” setting on, anyone can take a picture of your post with their cell phone and now show millions of people you are away and that no one will be in your home for days.

4. Identify and remove enticements from clear views: Home invasions and home robberies happen for a reason. A burglar wants to be confident that your home is worth the trouble. This Christmas, you need to make sure when you get that new expensive TV, game system, DVR, and home appliance that you do not leave boxes out in front of your home or have them visible in your trash. If a prospective robber goes past your home and sees you have new goodies in your home, you may become a target. Don’t advertise all your new electronics to would-be thieves. Remember to break your boxes down this Christmas in an effort to disguise your new valuables. Make sure you dispose of boxes to pricey items in black trash bags.

5. GET home security and keep it up to date: Adding security cameras and alarms is a great idea, but they are useless if they don’t work properly. When choosing home security, it’s an investment, and when making this investment, you need to think quickly but hard on the choice you make when you choose the company to do your home security. Shop around and be sure the company you choose is BBB accredited. Read the company reviews and make sure the Central Station Monitoring you choose is UL listed. (As a side note don’t forget to check with your homeowner’s insurance. Many companies offer a discount to homeowners with UL listed alarms, and now some companies offer discounts for installing security camera systems to your home. Check with your provider to see the discounts they are willing to offer.)

Have the security you need this holiday season by having an alarm system put in place to notify you when someone is trying to break into your home. Not only do we do alarm systems, but we also do security camera systems. Don’t let that Grinch like burglar ruin your holidays! Call Central Jersey Security Cameras today! 732-333-0227

New Jersey Has Seen its Share of Home Invasions Over the Past Few Years:
Burglaries-and-robberies-in-the-US–Where-to-place-your-home-security-systems

Over the past few years in NJ we have seen home invasions in the news in towns such as Old Bridge NJ, Edison NJ, Monroe NJ, South Orange NJ, Jackson NJ, Englewood NJ, Freehold NJ, South Plainfield, NJ and most recently in Holmdel NJ. When the home invasions in Old Bridge, NJ took place in 2014 they made national headlines on various news networks, it was noted on these news casts that Asian-Indian communities in Middlesex County were being targeted. This terrified Asian-Indian communities in Middlesex County, and many of the Asian-Indian communities turned to home security systems to keep their family and businesses safe.
Central Jersey Security Cameras worked closely with many Asian-Indian families to help them feel safe in their homes again. Central Jersey Security Cameras, President and Owner, Robert Murphy said, “I would like to point out that it was a honor to know I made families feel safe and secure again in their homes, and I wanted to point out burglaries / home invasions can happen to any type of family, or business, that a criminal decided to target, The crimes back in 2014, against the Asian-Indian families, took place when it was around a holiday known to have riches in the home. The truth is, it could have been any family in New Jersey targeted, if a burglar thinks may have a large score of goods in their home or business, they can be the criminals next potential victims.”
Once again, in the past two weeks, New Jersey has seen at least two home invasions. One in Holmdel, NJ, to one of the stars from “Desperate Housewives of New Jersey”, and the second one was to a mother in Belleville, NJ. Home invasions take a mental toll on its victims. Know the difference between a Home Invasion, Robbery, Burglary, Larceny, Theft and Extortion

Home Invasion:
In the dictionary home invasion is defined as; In the United States and many other English speaking countries (though not the United Kingdom) home invasion is an illegal and usually forceful entry to an occupied, private dwelling with intent to commit a violent crime against the occupants, such as robbery, assault, rape, murder, or kidnapping.
Burglary vs Robbery are Often the Most Confused Terms:
Robbery and burglary are both crimes that involve theft and it is the circumstances that surround each that defines their differences. When it comes to the legal definition of theft there are actually a number of categories of theft in addition to burglary and robbery. These additional theft crimes include: larceny, theft and extortion.

Robbery
In the dictionary, robbery is defined by the law as taking or trying to take something from someone that has value by utilizing intimidation, force or threat. In order for robbery to take place, a victim must be present at the scene and can occur with a single victim or, in cases like bank hold ups, multiple victims.

Burglary
Burglary is defined by the law as the unlawful entry to a structure to commit theft or a felony. In order for burglary to take place, a victim does not have to be present. When a burglary takes place, the structure being unlawfully entered can be any number of building types including business offices, personal homes and even garden sheds. Burglary is not the term used for crimes committed on cars.

Larceny
In the dictionary, larceny is a term that is similar to burglary. However, it does not involve illegal entry to a structure using attempted forcible, non-forcible or forcible entry methods. The exception to this rule is the case of burglary of a motor vehicle which is referred to as larceny. Under all conditions, whether a vehicle is left with the doors locked and security system on or whether the doors or windows were left open, vehicle “burglary” crimes are referred to as larceny

Theft
In the dictionary, many times the term, theft, is used as a general term by the public to refer to the illegal taking of an item. As it happens, theft is defined specifically depending upon the jurisdiction in which it is being prosecuted, but many times it is a term used as a synonym for larceny.

Extortion
In the dictionary extortion is a specific crime in which an individual forces someone to do something against their will by threatening them with damage to the person’s reputation, financial hardship, violence, property damage or threat of violence. Extortion differs from robbery in that victims who are being extorted willingly hand over the item being extorted in an attempt to avoid the threat being used against them. Depending upon the jurisdiction in which extortion is being prosecuted, it can be considered theft or larceny.
