How Can You Be Sure Your Home is Safe While Out for Super Bowl LIII?

Super-Bowl-LIII-Logo-2

That time of year is coming around again… SUPERBOWL SUNDAY!  Whether or not it is your fan favorite team that has made it to the final two or your most hated opponent, it is a game that we all tend to gather and watch in a large group. This year we get to watch the Los Angeles Rams take on a team that’s not so unfamiliar to the big game, the New England Patriots. Whether you are the one hosting the big party or if you are going out to an establishment, joining your family or just hanging with some friends at their home for the big game, wouldn’t you like to know your home is secure? While you are out enjoying the big game waiting to see if Tom Brady will in fact gain another Superbowl ring or if the Los Angeles Rams take their first Superbowl win as the Los Angeles Rams, you should not have to worry about if your home is being burglarized. If your home does not have a security system, the odds are not in your favor! This is where Central Jersey Security Cameras can help you. Call us today and we can access what home security system will work best to benefit you and your homes needs.

Your home is probably one of the biggest investments that you will ever make and it’s the one place you should truly feel the safest. It is a known statistic that a home is broken into every 15 seconds. The average home burglar loves this time of the year as we are all busy, whether it be out shopping or visiting family. They also know it’s that time of year that the expensive electronics make their way into your home. All those new game systems that came out that you purchased for a loved one for Christmas, that nice big screen TV you’ve been waiting to get for yourself to watch the big game on with family and friends… they’re all enticements for these burglars. Keeping your home safe in today’s world means becoming diligent with your home’s security needs. Get your home protected! Have a security camera system installed.

BE-PROTECTED-WITH-A-COMPREHENSIVE-HOME-SECURITY-SYSTEM

Often what we see at Central Jersey Security Cameras is a would-be criminal walk up to a home, look right up at the camera, and walk away. In many cases we find a neighbor or someone down the block without the protection of security cameras becomes the unintended victim of the burglar.

Here are 5 home tips to help you secure your home:
1. Take a good look at your home – Most burglars decide within five minutes whether your home is a good target for them.
-Look at your home during the day. Can just anyone look inside your home, walk up, and see no one is inside?
-Look at your home at night when the lights are on in your home. Can just anyone see that new expensive TV system you bought from the street?
Both day and night views of your home are important for a burglar to check out, so beat them to it. Take a look and get protected!
2. Examine each point of entry to your home. Today, burglars have YouTube, which has thousands of lock picking videos. These videos can help a pro get into your home, with a standard lock in many cases, in less than a minute. A window can be broken in less than a minute as well. Here is where you need to take a close look at adding a home alarm system to your house. If someone opens a door or breaks a window, (as long as you have glass breaks or motion sensors), your home alarm will sound, in many cases scaring the burglar away, and the proper authorities will be on their way to your home.
3. Be careful what you post on social media!! Going out for the big game and think it’s a good idea to brag to your friends? Think again. This is social media – even with the “friends only” setting on, anyone can take a picture of your post with their cell phone and now show millions of people you are away and that no one will be in your home for days.
4. Identify and remove enticements from clear views. Home invasions and home robberies happen for a reason. A burglar wants to be confident that your home is worth the trouble. You need to make sure when you get that new expensive TV, DVR, and home appliance that you do not leave boxes out in front of your home or have them visible in your trash. If a prospective robber goes past your home and sees you have new goodies in your home, you may become a target. Make sure you dispose of boxes to pricey items in black trash bags.
5. GET home security and keep it up to date!!! Adding security cameras and alarms is a great idea, but they are useless if they don’t work properly. When choosing home security, it’s an investment, and when making this investment, you need to think quickly but hard on the choice you make when you choose the company to do your home security. Shop around and be sure the company you choose is BBB accredited. Read the company reviews and make sure the Central Station Monitoring you choose is UL listed. (As a side note don’t forget to check with your homeowner’s insurance. Many companies offer a discount to homeowners with UL listed alarms, and now some companies offer discounts for installing security camera systems to your home. Check with your provider to see the discounts they are willing to offer.)

Protect your family and your assets. Surveillance cameras in plain view are a “proven guaranteed deterrent” by persuading potential intruders to move on. With professionally installed security cameras, you gain that peace of mind knowing your home is safe and secure, even when you are not there to see for yourself. Watch your home live remotely while you’re out watching the big game from your smart phones or other portable devices with remote views. You are now able to look in on your home and see for yourself, knowing what is taking place around the home when you are not able to be there. With today’s security cameras, you can check on your home at any time, whether it be at half time or right after the winning touchdown right from the palm of your hand! Get those crisp, clear pictures right on your smart phone when you have remote views set up with your cameras.

Another advantage to security cameras with remote views is you can be out and be alerted by your smart phone when someone steps within a perimeter you set on your property. Would you like an alert sent right to your smart phone when someone walks up to your front sidewalk or pulls in the driveway? With our professionally installed HD security cameras, you can set up a perimeter around your house, arm a specific area or individual cameras to send an instant notification to your mobile device when the area is entered or “breached”. You will receive this notification right to your smart phone that will include the persons or movement that triggered the alarm within seconds of it actually happening. This feature is called line intrusion that we can set up on your security cameras. The best part, there is no monthly charge! This is a free bonus to having your security cameras professionally installed.

WHAT IS LINE CROSSING DETECTION?
Line crossing detection, or intrusion detection, is a function of your DVRNVR or IP camera. What it does is that it instantly detects any motion in a certain “set”, which is a set area that is personally set by you for your alert needs. It will send immediate alerts to your smart device directly from the DVRNVR  or IP camera. For example, you want to know when someone or something enters your driveway? So, you go into the software of your DVRNVR or IP camera and start setting up specific areas by drawing lines across the driveway. Of course, these are not visible lines to the human eye since it is only a virtual line or perimeter you have created, but it acts just as good as a virtual tripwire. What it will do is activate the area when the area or line is breached and send you a notification either directly through the app or to your email, whichever option you choose. You can even have audible alerts right on site through an external siren or right from the DVR or NVR.
You can set this to work on schedules, certain hours during the day, certain days during the week or if you are on vacation and will be away from your home or business and you want to be alerted when someone or something breaches your “set” area or areas. While both High Definition and IP cameras or the use of an NVR in conjunction with IP cameras will both do the job, there is more flexibility with the NVR and IP cameras in terms of having multiple cameras set up for line crossing/intrusion detection. There are also sensitivity settings that do adjust to meet your needs. For example, you may not want to know when a cat or small animal crosses the line, so you would adjust the scale to measure for larger objects.

Double up on your home security just like the NFL doubles up on the referees officiating the Superbowl. Have the security you need by having an alarm system put in place to notify you when someone is trying to break into your home. Homes that add an alarm system to their home with security cameras installed have added protection to their homes. Homes with the added protection of a home alarm system and security cameras are a burglar’s worst nightmare. Now not only were they caught on tape by the security cameras, but they now alerted the proper authorities by setting off an alarm system. Chances are they will be caught on the spot. With the footage from your security cameras, you now have the proof of what took place at your home.

Today’s home alarms are more than a loud shirking noise when they go off! Most are connected to central station monitoring for a small monthly fee that will alert the proper authorities when the alarm is triggered. With advances in alarms this past year with the launch of the new UltraSync alarm home automation system, you can now not only be alerted when someone is at your home, but right from the palm of your hand, you can use your smartphone to do much more. Features like arming and disarming your system from your phone is only the beginning!

Audience

While you’re out for the big game, it’s expected that you will get home late. Nobody likes to walk into a dark home.  Don’t come home to a dark house. With the convenience of the home automation  features the UltraSync has to offer, you can now turn your lights on and off or set them on a timer right from the palm of your hand using your smartphone and a touch of your finger. Just like that, with a touch of your finger, you can have your home set to be bright and lit up for when you are pulling up to your home and the front door unlocked before even getting out of the car to go inside for the night. You don’t even have to fiddle with those keys after your long night out enjoying the game. The same goes for your thermostat. Have the thermostat set to the perfect temperature for you when you walk through the door from a long work day. To learn more about what the UltraSync can do for your home, visit our webpage.

How Secure is your Mall or Shopping Center?

Mall Header

Do you own a store here in the garden state of New Jersey? It does not matter if you are in a strip mall or in a large enclosed mall, your store needs security cameras. Security cameras are needed to help deter crimes. When a possible thief sees they are being filmed they will move on to their next target in most cases.

Today more than ever security cameras in shopping malls and stores are needed to help keep the public safe not only from small shoplifting crimes but from threats to the shopping malls as well. Video surveillance is often used as an aide today for the proper authorities to see what is taking place once a threat is called in.

Here are a couple quick tips that can help reduce burglary at your place of business or home:

  • Clear your entrances and windows of trees and shrubs that block views from the street and/or provide a hiding place for thieves
  • Secure your doors with sturdy deadbolt locks or padlocks
  • Install bars or gates on windows to help prevent them from being broken and used as an entry
  • Motion sensor-activated lighting and alarms can also help deter burglars

Shopping malls use a wide variety of cameras to monitor shoppers throughout a shopping mall. These cameras are used to reduce theft and to improve the overall safety in the shopping mall. Cameras also, help store owners keep an eye on their employees. Store owners often install cameras in areas not only to watch the merchandise but to also watch employees on the cash register too. Unfortunately, not all dangers to your business come from the outside. 64% of all small businesses fall victim to one of the biggest threats, employee theft, and fraud. While some and hopefully most of the theft being minor office supplies, that isn’t always the case. Majority of losses that come from employee theft are cash losses, with $20,000 being the average loss. That’s not something a business owner should have to worry about while they aren’t present. Have security cameras installed pointing at the register, this way you can see the cash as it is being handled and know it is going to the proper location and not your employees’ pockets. Security equipment such as locks, video intercoms, access control, and security cameras can help act as barriers or even a deterrent to crime. With the use of personalized ID’s and key fobs, it makes it nearly impossible to enter the vicinity of your office space without proper clearance. Technology like this is what keeps the peace of mind that a business owner needs to operate without any worries. Keeping your business safe and protected can be a job by itself, a stressful one at that. Central Jersey Security Cameras can give you peace of mind, call us today and have your business evaluated for a security surveillance system.

Products

Here are a few tips that might help you to reduce your chances of becoming a statistic:

  • Conduct a background check on prospective employees
  • Install an access control system allowing employees to enter only those areas needed for them to do their jobs
  • Place security cameras around areas where money is exchanged or kept
  • Make daily bank deposits to minimize the amount of cash on the premises
  • Close and lock doors to areas where valuable products or supplies are stored. Use fencing and locked gates to protect equipment and supplies kept outdoors

Cameras with remote viewing are a great way for the owner to watch their store, even when they cannot be there, with cameras that can now remote view from anywhere in the world. Owners can view their stores remotely from almost anywhere in the world that has internet with the use of their smartphone, tablet or laptop.

Most malls use CCTV security cameras to monitor common areas in the mall. These are areas such as the walkways, food courts and various halls in the mall. The crimes that happen in malls are typically shoplifting; menacing behavior involving juveniles and thefts. CCTV cameras are often watched by a central station monitoring station that will alert mall security or the proper authorities if they see something in the mall that has a safety concern.

According to the FBI, there’s a burglary every 12 seconds. Those thefts annually combine for more than $3.1 billion in property and personal loss. So how do burglars get into your business? Six of ten burglaries involve forcible entry, about a third of those were unlawful entries. The rest, a little over six percent, were attempted forcible entries. The primary ways in which they gained access were through open windows or doors or by forcible entry through windows or doors. Only about one in eight burglars reported picking locks or using a key they had previously acquired. Not surprisingly, most commercial burglaries occur at night, weekends, or holidays when many businesses aren’t open. What’s more enticing to a burglar than nobody being there to stop them?

Parking lot

Parking lots around the malls are another key area to a mall to make sure they are protected. Parking lots have seen a large increase in suspicious activity in recent years. They’ve unfortunately become an ever-growing space for kidnappings and human trafficking issues, especially in Monmouth and Ocean Counties. Security cameras used in parking lots are often dome cameras. Dome cameras are not always easy to detect unless you are looking for them. These cameras because of their dome shape are also hard to know or see where they are pointing. Dome-shaped cameras feature dark colored glass that often helps prevents them from being seen. Bullet cameras are used in parking lots as well; these cameras are made to withstand the weather outdoors and are hard to be tampered with. Bullet cameras can see large areas and many parking lots use PTZ (Pan Tilt Zoom) Bullet cameras so security can zoom in and move the cameras with a joystick to get the views they need. These cameras are often instrumental in finding licenses plate numbers for the authorities.

Just earlier this week an act of violence took place when a group of teenagers was assaulted just outside a mall parking lot in Deptford Township, New Jersey. The security cameras installed in the parking lot captured the attack and assisted police and mall security to have a better understanding of the situation. For more information and for the video footage of the attack, click here or the image below to view the article.Untitled

In Malls with elevators cameras will monitor the people coming and going and the actions that they are doing in the elevator. In most malls, the biggest crime that takes place is often vandalism. Now with cameras in place, these vandals will be caught.

When choosing a security camera company for all your store/mall needs you need to choose a company that has training in installs in the complex mall settings. Here at Central Jersey Security Cameras, our technicians have gone through extensive training for mall security cameras and alarms. They have worked closely with mall security in the proper placement of cameras to help mall security personal use cameras in their malls to their fullest potential. When installing security cameras, you want to go with a company that will come to each location and does a safety audit to best meet the needs of each facility. A safety audit is something that should be done at least once a year to ensure all the systems are working properly and are still meeting your facility’s needs. This audit of the facility should not just be limited to security cameras and alarms. It should also include every point of entry and door access protection. Another tool your organization can use when looking for the company that is going to install your security system is to look them up in the Better Business Bureau. You want to use a company that is BBB accredited so you can look back on the company’s track record. Central Jersey Security Cameras will come work with your organization and their budget to best protect your most valuable assets. Our staff is background checked and highly trained in the installation of all aspects of security systems. Central Jersey Security Cameras is Better Business Bureau Accredited A+.

Technical support personnel is available in our offices daily to answer any questions you may have about the functionality of your system.

Do these cameras have clear night vision?

An infrared security camera has infrared lighting (light from a different region of the electromagnetic spectrum than we normally use to see) installed around the outside of the lens of the camera. This lighting allows the camera to capture a good image in no light at all. With a little bit of light (called low light) the infrared camera can capture a picture that looks just like daytime. Keep in mind that even at nighttime there is normally some light from the moon, stars, or street lights.

Infrared cameras do not do well in outdoor housings because the infrared light reflects off the glass of the housing. Some people get acceptable results if the camera is absolutely flush with the glass. An alternative solution is to use a day/night camera which has an extra sensitive imaging chip that allows it to capture a good picture in low light situations without using infrared lighting. This works well for example if there are street lights outside or an exterior light that can be left on at night. Keep in mind that cameras without infrared lighting will not capture an image with zero light.

The level of light required to capture a good picture is referred to as a camera’s lux, the lower the lux the better the camera can see in the dark. For example, a camera with 0.003 lux is better than a camera with 0.2 lux. Infrared cameras are also compared by how far they can see in total darkness. We sell cameras that see in total darkness over 120 feet at night. People use infrared security cameras for businesses (that have the lights out at night (in case of break-ins). Or for outside, nighttime viewing.

The image that infrared cameras capture is black and white – however, some cameras will capture color images during the day when light is available and will automatically switch to black and white when light is low.
Times are changing and there has been a significant breakthrough in night vision with the introduction of EXIR or Matrix IR’s. Hikvision pioneered this type of technology and we at Central Jersey Security Cameras noticed a tremendous difference in the quality of the picture at night. These cameras incorporate Hikvision’s EXIR infrared array technology to provide best-in-breed illuminators for any zero-dark environment – indoors or out. Compared to conventional IR cameras, Hikvision’s high-performance EXIR series delivers the most advanced levels of night-time surveillance available on the market today.

These EXIR cameras (a highly-efficient light source and enhanced LED light strength. By employing the most advanced thin-film and light-emitting technology, this series provides up to 30% more illuminant efficiency over traditional LED array technology. Furthermore, the EXIR series even provides a 40% light-extraction rate improvement when compared to traditional models, resulting in a stronger light for long-range visibility usage.

To make the most out of IR LED light, EXIR HD and IP cameras produce LED light in the form of a rectangle. This allows a better fit for a screen’s normal size (4:3 or 16:9). Additionally, it helps improve LED utilization efficiency and reduce light pollution in the surrounding environment. Images are further optimized with EXIR’s luminance uniformity functionality, which eliminates traditional LED lens issues, such as over-exposure at the center of images, as well as darker areas at the corners. EXIR HD/IP cameras deliver superb image detail in poorly lit environments, better providing for solutions at industrial parks, harbors, roads, airports, etc. Furthermore, excellent heat dissipation, longer lifespan, and greater energy savings are but a few of the advantages that Hikvision EXIR cameras bring. IP66 protection, in both bullet and dome styles, further provide users with options to best fit their specific needs.

Remote Viewing Holiday

Can I get an alert on my phone from my cameras?

Would you like an alert sent right to your smartphone when someone walks up to your front sidewalk or pulls in the driveway? Well, Central Jersey Security Cameras in Freehold, NJ has a solution for this. With our professionally installed HD security cameras, you can set up a perimeter around your house, arm a specific area or individual cameras to send an instant notification to your mobile device when the area is entered or “breached”. You will receive this notification right to your smartphone that will include the persons or movement that triggered the alarm within seconds of it actually happening.

Can I save the footage from my security cameras?

Record all events in “real time” as they happen. Receive push notifications or “text messages” of real-time video from your security equipment. Watch your home live when you’re not there from smartphones or other portable devices. Protect your family and your assets. Surveillance cameras in plain view are a “proven guaranteed deterrent” by persuading potential intruders to move on.

Event schedule, meaning that if an incident occurs somewhere for example in a 24-hour period and you are not sure when the event happened, instead of sitting through endless hours of reviewing until the event is found you would have indicators. Most likely a color-coded event list. This would enable you to jump ahead to all motion triggered events, thus making your search quicker and more successful. Conserving hard drive space, meaning if your cameras are set to record all the time, even with nothing moving in front of them you could potentially shorten the life of the hard drive and absolutely shorten the length of time your NVR/DVR will retain recordings.

Why an alarm system with security cameras are the best line of defense:

Home security cameras are the #1 deterrent on a home or business. Often criminals see security cameras and move on to the next location. The ones that try to outsmart security cameras often get caught because they do not know the capabilities on the range of today’s IP cameras. Look, at the inchworm bandits crawling on the floor!

No, unfortunately, these cameras did not stop this break-in from happening, but it is the proof this owner needs to show exactly what took place at their business location for their insurance. In this case, an alarm system doubled with security cameras would have helped alert the proper authorities and the business owners sooner.

Central Jersey Security Cameras believes after many years in the business and continuous training each year a whole home security system with a security camera system on the home and an alarm system is often the best protection a New Jersey homeowner can have on their home.

So, now you have to make sure you have the right alarm for your home too! It’s easy with today advances in alarms with our preferred alarm the UltraSync alarm. Some things to consider when you are looking for the right alarm system for your home.

AS TEMPERATURES DROP, CARBON MONOXIDE POISONING RISK RISES!

Alarms_Graphic2

Even though fall has just made it’s appearance, we are getting winter like temperatures the past few days. With that being said, I’m sure your home is starting to get a little chilly resulting in you turning on your heat. As you would do a test on your air conditioning for the summer, you should also do a test on your heating units as well. Those that are not electric can be dangerous. In fact, any appliances in your house that are not electric can be a danger due to carbon monoxide. Make sure to have your appliances serviced regularly by a qualified and registered professional. Ask your utility company about yearly checkups for all gas appliances.

Carbon monoxide cannot be detected by humans without the help of a detector. Did you know that one of the most dangerous things that can hurt you and your loved ones can be hiding right underneath your nose?! By definition, carbon monoxide is a colorless, odorless, and a tasteless gas formed when a compound containing carbon burns incompletely because there is not enough oxygen. This gas is deadly to both animals and humans.. HAVE YOUR APPLIANCES SERVICED REGULARLY BY A PROFESSIONAL!

If you do not already have an alarm system installed in your home, Central Jersey Security Cameras can help with that. We can come to your home and install an UltraSync Smart Hub alarm panel which gives you the ability to connect your carbon monoxide sensors and smoke detectors right to the alarm itself. For more information on our alarm systems, visit our website.

Carbon monoxide is known as the “silent killer” because it is colorless, odorless, tasteless, and non- irritating. Neither people nor animals can tell when they are breathing it, but it can be fatal. If the early signs of carbon monoxide poisoning are ignored, a person may lose consciousness and be unable to escape the danger. Below is a list of symptoms to not be ignored!

index

SYMPTOMS:

Persons with carbon monoxide poisoning often overlook the symptoms.
Signs and symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning may include:
• Dull headache
• Weakness
• Dizziness
• Nausea or vomiting
• Shortness of breath
• Confusion
• Blurred vision
• Loss of consciousness

Potential-Causes-of-CO

CAUSES:

You may be exposed to unsafe levels of carbon monoxide by:
• Using poorly maintained or unvented heating equipment.
• Improperly vented natural gas appliances like stoves or water heaters.
• Using a gas stove, grill, or oven to heat the home.
• Clogged chimneys or blocked heating exhaust vents can stop carbon monoxide from escaping.
• Cooking with a charcoal or gas grill inside the home or other enclosure.
• Using a propane camp stove, heater, or light inside a tent.
• Running vehicles in garages or other enclosed spaces. Leaving a car in a closed garage with its engine running can produce deadly amounts of carbon monoxide within 10 minutes.
• Running generators or gas-powered tools indoors or outside near windows, doors, or vents.
• Being near boat engine exhaust outlets.
• Fumes from certain paint removers and cleaning fluids can cause carbon monoxide poisoning.
• House or building fires.
• Smoking cigarettes causes blood levels of carbon monoxide to rise.
Products that contain methylene chloride (dichloromethane) should be handled with care, because methylene chloride turns into carbon monoxide when it is breathed in.

PREVENTION:

Simple precautions can help prevent the leakage of carbon monoxide & carbon monoxide poisoning:
• Install carbon monoxide detectors. Put one in the hallway near each sleeping area in your house. Check the batteries every time you check your smoke detector batteries — at least twice a year. If the alarm sounds, leave the house and call 911 or the fire department. Carbon monoxide detectors are also available for motor homes and boats.
• Make sure all rooms are well ventilated and that vents are not blocked. Be especially careful in well-insulated environments.
• Open the garage door before starting your car. Never leave your car running in your garage. Be particularly cautious if you have an attached garage. Leaving your car running in a space attached to the rest of your house is never safe, even with the garage door open. Do not leave any other type of gasoline-powered motor running in a garage at all. For example, motorbikes, cars, or lawn mowers.
• Service the exhaust pipe in a motor vehicle every year.
• If the tailgate of a vehicle is open and the engine is running, open the doors and windows too.
• Use gas appliances as recommended. Never use a gas stove or oven to heat your home. Use portable gas camp stoves outdoors only. Use fuel-burning space heaters only when someone is awake to monitor them, and doors or windows are open to provide fresh air. Don’t run a generator in an enclosed space, such as the basement or garage. Never use a generator within 20 feet of a window, door, or vent. Be careful when using gas-powered tools and equipment inside rooms. And always wear a mask when using products that contain methylene chloride.
• Keep your fuel-burning appliances and engines properly vented. These include:
o Space heaters
o Furnaces
o Charcoal grills
o Cooking ranges
o Water heaters
o Fireplaces
o Portable generators
o Wood-burning stoves
o Car and truck engines
• If you have a fireplace, keep it in good repair. Have chimneys and flues swept thoroughly regularly by a fully-qualified sweep, at least once a year.
• Keep vents and chimneys unblocked during remodeling. Check that they aren’t covered by tarps or debris.
• Do repairs before returning to the site of an incident. If carbon monoxide poisoning has occurred in your home, it’s critical to find and repair the source of the carbon monoxide before you stay there again. Your local fire department or utility company may be able to help.

All of our alarms are either connected to Central Station Monitoring or are set up to send alerts directly to your smart device or you can even set it up to do both. Central station monitoring is a full-service nationally UL intrusion and fire alarm central station providing professional services since 1982. Having your professionally installed security alarm connected with Central Station Monitoring will alert the proper authorities when the alarm is triggered to respond to your home. Rest assured that Central Station alerts and sends the fire department right to your home before your home reaches the dangerous levels of gas that will make you sick, if not worse.

Our technicians are trained to know the proper placement on where to put your carbon monoxide and fire detectors that are connected directly to Central Station Monitoring. By having your carbon monoxide detectors installed by our professionally trained technicians, you will be able to sleep easier at night. Come Home To Comfort This Fall By Having Your UltraSync Alarm Installed

fallmsn

Summer transitioning into fall, much like winter transitioning into spring, is the time of year that the weather changes throughout the day. We can walk out of our home in the morning needing a sweatshirt and pants, by midday be ready for shorts and a tank and then as the sun sets be right back to needing a sweatshirt and pants again. This makes it inconvenient to set a thermostat manually so your home is at the temperature that is comfortable to you. Unless….. you have an UltraSync alarm panel installed in your home! With the convenience of the home automation  features the UltraSync has to offer, you can now set your thermostat from the palm of your hand using your smartphone and a touch of your finger. Just like that, with a touch of your finger, you can have your home set to be nice and toasty for when you wake up and get out of bed in the morning, set it back to being cool throughout the day as the sun peaks in, and have it right back to the perfect temperature for you when you walk through the door from a long work day. The same goes for your lights. With fall upon us, it gets darker earlier. Don’t come home to a dark house. Have your lights set on a timer, or turn them on before you even walk through the door. To learn more about what the UltraSync can do for your home, visit our webpage.

With advances in alarms this past year with the launch of the new UltraSync alarm home automation system, you can now not only be alerted when someone is at your home and place of business but right from the palm of your hand, you can use your smartphone to do much more!

Features like arming and disarming your system from your phone is only the beginning!

Peace of Mind: Kids? With the school year beginning here in New Jersey, would you like to know when the kids walk in the house? Contractors? Having work done on your home while the weather is still nice, would you like to be able to see what contractors are doing when you can’t be home to see for yourself? Pets? We all love our pets. Would you like to look in on them and see how your pets are behaving? Now you can, by pairing professionally installed security cameras along with your UltraSync alarm.

Come Home to Comfort: With the fall season now upon us, would you like to be able to control the temperature in your home while you are not there? Would you like to make sure your lights are on in front of your home before you pull in, now you can. Your home can be ready for you at just the right time by automatically adjusting thermostats, turning on lights and unlocking doors as you arrive, using the geo-location technology in your UltraSync system paired with your smartphone’s GPS.

Night Mode: Set your home to automatically close the garage, lock doors, turn out lights, and modify home temperature with the push of a button, all from the comfort of your bed. This means no more getting out of bed to check if the doors are all locked, you can now check right on your phone and have the peace of mind your home is secure.

Enhanced Security, More Convenience: Use the UltraSync mobile app to create temporary codes for people who need limited access to your home. If, for example, you need to let a friend or worker into your home, you can use the app to create a unique code, and then remotely set the system to allow access only on select days and at specific times. Check your system status, arm/disarm and trigger automations from virtually anywhere. Also, view the status of security and life safety sensors, and be alerted when selected devices are opened or activated.

Burglars often look for the homes that are easy hits. Double up on your home security by having an alarm system and security camera system installed at your home. Not only will security cameras help you keep an eye on what’s going on around your home, but you may also need to know when the kids get home from school, so you would set up a virtual intrusion area at your front door. For your older children that don’t need a sitter, the bus rolls in to drop them off while you’re still at work. Sure, they’re going to want to play outside on their own and you’re going to want to make sure they don’t stray out of the yard and keep an eye on them. Make sure they’re not getting themselves into trouble by having line intrusion alerts sent right to your phone.

WHAT IS LINE CROSSING DETECTION?
Line crossing detection, or intrusion detection, is a function of your DVR, NVR or IP camera. What it does is that it instantly detects any motion in a certain “set”, which is a set area that is personally set by you for your alert needs. It will send immediate alerts to your smart device directly from the DVR, NVR  or IP camera. For example, you want to know when someone or something enters your driveway? So, you go into the software of your DVR, NVR or IP camera and start setting up specific areas by drawing lines across the driveway. Of course, these are not visible lines to the human eye since it is only a virtual line or perimeter you have created, but it acts just as good as a virtual tripwire. In essence, what it will do is activate the area when the area or line is breached and send you a notification either directly through the app or to your email, whichever option you choose.

Make sure you trim back any branches that may have become over grown this spring. Make sure your security cameras have a clear view of your home and the surrounding areas. Any dark spots in the yard can make it easier for a would-be intruder to come up to your home. Check to make sure your home and the surrounding areas are lit up, making it less enticing for a potential burglar.

Home Safety Measures to Take Now This Fall:

  1. While the weather is still nice, now is the time to check your carbon monoxide detectors in your home before the heat goes on for the season.
  2. Check your fire detectors, if you have detectors that are hooked into central station, it’s time to run a test to make sure they are working in proper order. This is also the time to replace batteries in smoke alarms in your home too.
  3. Make sure your home is free of obstructing trees and bushes and your security cameras have clear views.
  4. Test your security alarm. Check to make sure your contacts and glass breaks are all in working order.
  5. Make sure all your doors have secure locks and don’t forget your windows all have locks, you do not want to make it easy for a would be intruder to get into your home.
  6. Send a clear sign. Make sure your home security signs aren’t covered up with decorations. As illustrated by the picture below, some people choose to use their security signs as a place to add decoration. It’s important to remember that even though this is a time to be festive, signs are one of the easiest ways to deter a criminal. Consider using decorations to highlight your security camera sign instead, and make it more obvious to potential thieves so they avoid your home all together. Enjoy your holiday decorations, but make sure they don’t hide your signs.
  7. Rake away the leaves. Make sure your outdoor home security cameras don’t get obstructed by leaves or snow. Ensuring your camera’s view is clear is an easy way to maintain visibility whether viewing in real-time or during play-back. Nothing is more frustrating than needing security footage that has been carelessly covered. Clearing out your gutters can help for cameras located up high, to prevent dangling fall foliage from blocking your view. Don’t let leaves or snow block your camera views.
  8. Brighten up. One distinct characteristic of fall and winter is the earlier setting sun. Lighting can play a big role in improving your homes safety, and from discouraging robbers from targeting your home. Make sure to add additional lighting if necessary to dark corners, and keep lights on in the late afternoon and evening. Keeping a light on can keep a robber away.
  9. Don’t open the door for strangers. Though trick-or-treaters will be abundant this week, it’s important that you know who you’re opening your door for. Sometimes burglars disguise themselves, and come right up and knock on your door to either rob your home, or get a better look around until you aren’t home. Security camera can help you view who’s approaching your home so you can make smart decisions about who you decide to open up for. Know who’s at your door before you answer it.
  10. Add an alarm. If you don’t already have one, consider adding an alarm system to increase your home safety. While the presence of security cameras are a deterrent in and of themselves, no burglar wants to stick around a home with a blaring alarm going off. In the event that someone breaks into your home, an alarm system can quickly notify you and police through our central station monitoring.

Enjoy your holiday decorations, but make sure they don't hide your signs.

Enjoy your holiday decorations, but make sure they don’t hide your signs.

With fall in swing and the holiday season to come, now is the time to make sure your home is secure. Many families go away for the holiday season. How do you secure your Jersey Shore home for the winter and beyond?

d303e68e-67cb-4532-a531-7011c83c5bbe.hw1

How do you secure your Jersey Shore home for the winter and beyond?

Many homeowners in towns such as Toms River, Lavallette, Midway Beach, Berkeley Township, Brick, LBI, and Surf City are sad to say goodbye to “local summer” as there is a bit of coolness in the weather along the Jersey shore. This bit of coolness has many of the Jersey snow birds thinking of their sunny winter in Florida. Before you close up your Jersey shore home and fly off for the winter, you need to think of how secure your home is. Would you like to be able to look in and see exactly what is happening at your shore home from any location in the world that has internet excess?  If you answered yes, then it’s time to think of installing security cameras to your Jersey shore home.

Whether you are going south for the winter or just back to your residential home until next summer, are you leaving your beach home unattended? With fall and winter approaching, we all know it gets darker earlier outside. The darker it is outside, the easier it is for a burglar to go unnoticed. Keep an eye on your home while you are not.

Some of our Jersey Shore Security customer’s thoughts

“I’m so happy we decided to install security cameras and an ultra sync alarm in our home. Living with my small children in Toms River the summer months does bring a crowd through our town for many months and now I have peace of mind knowing my home is protected even when we are not home. My husband has peace of mind he can check on me and the kids while he travels for business. Thank you, Jersey Shore Security!” – Jill of Toms River, NJ

“Bob and his crew are the best they came in one day installed 6 cameras at our home. The views around my home are crystal clear day, night sunny and in the rain! In fact, a few days ago I came home and walked into my kitchen where we set up a monitor and could see my wife and kids pulling up at my back dock and I couldn’t believe how beautiful the footage was.” – Jon of Bayville, NJ

“I was hesitant to install security cameras to my home and my husband wanted them for years. Now we have them and I don’t know how we lived without them! Kris and Justin did our install and they were neat, clean, helpful and extremely patient with my wife and I learning how to work the system (we are not the most computer savvy couple) They made it so easy and user friendly. This past week I could not recall one of the features the guys showed us so I called the office and the office staff was also so patient and helpful and were able to direct me to the Central Jersey Security Cameras website where there is a help tab with step by step instruction videos. Thanks Jersey Shore Security for making it so easy and stress free using our new cameras.” – Megan of Brick, NJ

Back to School Safety Preparation 2018!

B2S18

Back to school time here in Central, South, and North New Jersey. With your children returning to the classroom this fall, after the previous year the United States saw in school shootings and lock downs, it’s time to think school security now more than ever. Many NJ schools have tightened security by not allowing anyone to just walk though the doors. You now have to show your ID as a parent during school hours.

It’s scary to think of all the safely measures that need to go into place today in our schools. The first lines of defense that all schools need to have today are locked doors with a buzz in system. These doors should have a camera pointing at the person at the door with an intercom system. With the buzz in system in place, a person at the door can state why they are there and actually show their ID before the doors are opened.

Here at Central Jersey Security Cameras, we sell cutting edge access control systems such as CDVI Atrium as one of our top selling products. Access control is a way of limiting access to a system or to physical or virtual resources. In computing, access control is a process by which users are granted access and certain privileges to systems, resources, or information.

aaron-burden-60068-unsplash

In access control systems, users must present credentials before they can be granted access. In physical systems, these credentials may come in many forms, but credentials that can’t be transferred provide the most security. For example, a key card may act as an access control and grant the bearer access to a classified area. Because this credential can be transferred or even stolen, it is not a secure way of handling access control.

A more secure method for access control involves two-factor authentication. The person who desires access must show credentials and a second factor to corroborate identity. The second factor could be an access code, a pin or even a bio-metric reading.

There are three factors that can be used for authentication:

  • Something only known to the user, such as a password or pin.
  • Something that is part of the user, such as a fingerprint, retina scan or another bio-metric measurement.
  • Something that belongs to the user, such as a card or a key.

For computer security, access control includes the authorization, authentication and audit of the entity trying to gain access. Access control models have a subject and an object. The subject, the human user, is the one trying to gain access to the object – usually the software. In computer systems, an access control list contains a list of permissions and the users to whom these permissions apply. Such data can be viewed by certain people and not by other people and is controlled by access control. This allows an administrator to secure information and set privileges as to what information can be accessed, who can access it and at what time it can be accessed.

One of the latest and greatest features we have to offer is a feature that unfortunately today is becoming more necessary in our everyday lives which is the “building lockdown” feature. For example, this would allow a school to press either a fixed or mobile button to instantaneously lock down the entire school by locking every single-entry door in the building. This feature would allow a school to fortify the building so no unauthorized persons would be able to enter.

back-bus-education-159658

Cameras should be placed at each exterior entrance of the school as well, so the front desk can see who is moving around the outside of the school at all times. Next, would be proper placement of cameras inside the school. Each hallway and stairwell needs to be protected. Cameras inside the schools keeps your children protected on so many levels. They will protect your children from bullies, protect teachers from falsely being accused of something and can protect your child from a teacher that may not be treating your child right. Many schools are now even adding cameras to the actual classrooms. This is often the proof to show parents how their child is behaving in the classroom, or proof of how a teacher may interact with your child. Cameras in the classroom often serve as not just protection for the child and the teacher, but to go back and see how both teacher and child can improve in the future.

Today we are living in an uncertain world, and just sending our children off to school is scary. With the events that have taken place in this country throughout the last academic school year, this is how we can keep our children safe. It’s time to start planning to get the security your school needs.

Keep in mind, no two schools are the same when choosing a company to install cameras and alarms at your schools. A company that offers a package is not really your best bet. You want to go with a company that will come to each school and does a safety audit to best meet the needs of each school. A school safety audit is something that should be done at least once a year to ensure all the systems are working properly and are still meeting your school’s needs. This audit of the school should not just be limited to security cameras and alarms in the school, it should also include every point of entry and door access protection. Another tool your school board can use when looking for the company that is going to install your security system is to look them up in the Better Business Bureau. You want to use a company that is BBB accredited so you can look back on the company’s track record. Keep in mind too, when choosing the company or any company that may work in your schools, be sure that the staff is all background checked. Central Jersey Security Cameras will come work with your school district and school budget to best protect your most valuable assets, your children! Our staff is background checked and highly trained in installation of all aspects of security systems. Central Jersey Security Cameras is Better Business Bureau Accredited A+. Start with getting the security your school needs. Call Central Jersey Security Cameras today and let’s start making the plans to have your school as safe as it can be for this upcoming school year. 732-333-0227

Review: Interlogix UltraSync smart home system lets you design your own security network

A professionally-installed security system offers flexibility on products and Z-Wave compatibility

Terry Sullivan Jun 04, 2018

Consumer electronics products are entering and leaving the marketplace at an increasingly faster pace, driven in part by smart IoT products that connect to the internet. While people may have purchased just one or two IoT devices in the past, perhaps an Amazon Echo or a similar voice-controlled speaker, consumers are now buying more. We recently tested a suite of these products, including those from Interlogix and its UltraSync system, that not only provides home security but also helps to connect, manage and wirelessly control this constellation of devices. A monitored home security that is professionally installed, UltraSync even allows you to use Amazon Alexa‘s voice commands to help control the system.

We recently had a professional security company (Central Jersey Security Cameras, in Freehold, NJ) install the system, as well as several IoT devices, in one of our test houses. For this review, we had the following products installed:

  • UltraSync Self-Contained Hub
  • Yale Real Living Assure Lock SL Key Free Touchscreen Deadbolt (YRD256)
  • TruVision 1080p IP Wi-Fi Desktop IR Camera (TVQ-8101)
  • JASCO Z-Wave Plug-In Smart Dimmer (ZW3103)
  • UltraSync+ mobile app (free, iOS and Android)

Installation and Overview of the UltraSync System

The UltraSync system is a professionally installed security system. From start to finish, it took Central Jersey Security Cameras roughly three hours to complete the job, which included setting up the mobile app and informal training. According to Central Jersey Security Cameras, the approximate installation cost was around $500, and included the cost of the individual items and labor.

There are several benefits to this system, along with the products we choose. First, all the products connect wirelessly to the system, so most likely you won’t need to do any drilling into walls, ceilings, or other parts of your home, unless you decide to mount the hub.

The system is also based on the Z-Wave wireless protocol. If a homeowner has or plans to buy a Z-Wave device, it would be compatible with the UltraSync system, which includes such products such as lighting, locks, thermostats, wireless speakers, doorbells, garage door openers, fan controllers, and water management systems.

Overall, the UltraSync system worked well. I found it was consistent in notifying me, mostly through the mobile app, as well as in triggering sounds in the home from the hub. For instance, when I open the front door, the panel produces a chiming sound to let someone know that the front door is ajar. Much of these notifications are also customizable. For more on the overall system, you can go to Interlogix’s UltraSync Smarthome section of its website.

In the UltraSync mobile app, you can view clips from the security camera, and customize your own features.GearBrain

The UltraSync+ mobile app

The mobile app, UltraSync+ (for iOS and Android), is the heart of the system since it’s where you’ll add products, or customize your UltraSync ecosystem. But unlike most consumer-oriented apps, it’s not really an app tailored for the DIY type. You need to work with the installation company that installed your system in order to understand certain aspects of the app, particularly passcode and passwords. At least, at first.

The app is divided into several sections, including overview, lights, thermostat, camera, lock, and sensor. In the upper-left hand corner of the app, there’s a menu section where, if you are not logged in, you can access a number of handy videos. However, you are asked to choose between videos targeted at homeowners and those targeted at the pro dealers. In terms of design, it would have been better to offer only one set of videos to consumers to confuse them. (In fact, if you choose the pro dealer videos, a warning pops up with a message telling you should never try to alter or even access the dealer settings. In my view, it would have been better to exclude such videos that might confuse users.)

Additionally, there are differently designed sections that make the app feel a bit disjointed. For example, the Settings section looks markedly different from the main sections of the app. I also feel the app would benefit from a user manual or help section in addition to the help videos. Still, overall the app is useful and logical in its structure.

Overall, the system’s mobile app, worked reasonably well. I was impressed with the system’s consistent notifications, which appeared as popup messages on my phone and which can be configured in the Settings section of the app. All the commands and controls worked as expected, whether I was locking my front door, dimming the lights, or accessing video on the wireless camera.

The IoT Devices (Tested for this Review)

Because this review is focusing on a system, we chose to focus on several products that would most likely be included in a home-security system. The following devices were installed in our test house: UltraSync Self-Contained Hub, Yale Real Living Assure Lock SL Key Free Touchscreen Deadbolt (YRD256), TruVision 1080p IP Wi-Fi Desktop IR Camera (TVQ-8101), JASCO Z-Wave Plug-In Smart Dimmer (ZW3103), and several sensors to work with the UltraSync system.

UltraSync Hub
New From: $220.00 in Stock

The UltraSync Self-Contained Hub

In many ways, you could have a review of just the UltraSync Self-Contained Hub. That’s because the features on this wireless hub are quite extensive: It can be set up for 256 users, 64 wireless sensors and 20 Keyfobs, and four distinct areas/partitions (which means you can split the system into smaller parts). Plus, it has a personal voice guided setup and menu prompts, and a 24-hour battery backup.

In terms of design, it has a very clear, functional, yet versatile interface: The various buttons are all color-coded and illuminated so that they can be clearly seen in dimly lit lighting scenarios. It’s also loaded with other system features: It’s internet ready, capable of being connected over Ethernet or Wi-Fi and, of course, includes a Z-Wave radio for controlling smart home devices. However, in many ways, I can see the average consumer opting to work mostly through the mobile app, and only use the hub when needed. Still, it’s worthwhile to take some time to study the hub’s extensive user PDF guide.

We installed the Yale Real Living Assure Lock SL Key Free Touchscreen Deadbolt with the UltraSync systemGearBrain

Yale Real Living Assure Lock SL Key Free Touchscreen Deadbolt

If you’re looking for a configurable lock that includes wireless Z-wave technology yet also has classic, non-tech styling, the Yale Real Living Assure Lock SL Key Free Touchscreen Deadbolt is a very good choice. The technology works well within the UltraSync system. In our test house, we were able to lock and unlock the unit from the UltraSync+ mobile app as well as entering a number code onto the key pad.

You also have a lot of flexibility: For instance, you can add a temporary code for someone, say, who might be staying with you for just a couple of weeks. Via the app, you can provide your guest with his or her own unique key combination for the keyless entry lock. When they’ve left, you can remove this temporary code from the app’s settings. So, you always have control over who can unlock the door.

If there’s a downside, it’s with the display, although it’s more of a quibble: If you’ve installed the lock outside in an area that has direct sunlight, and it’s a bright and sunny day, it may be a bit difficult to see the LED numbers on the door pad. Obviously, you can shield the lock with your hands to see the numbers better. Overall, though, the product worked very well and provided a secure, yet flexible way to include a wireless, keyless lock into the UltraSync system.

The TruVision 1080p IP Wi-Fi Desktop IR camera had fairy accurate color, but highlights were blow out and had a lack of detail.GearBrain

TruVision 1080p IP Wi-Fi Desktop IR Camera

Our installation team set up TruVision’s 1080p IP Wi-Fi Desktop IR Camera as the security camera for the system, which as the name indicates allows for 1080p HD resolution video (as well as lower resolutions), and has a field of view of 115 degrees. We set it up in the living room, facing the door. In our tests, we found the model did a fine job at recording as well as capturing real-time video and audio. As with many security cams, there was quite a bit of sharpening as well as some barrel distortion, due to the wide angle of view.

Nevertheless, the footage had nice detail and fairly accurate color (even though the colors were on the muted side, and not very saturated.) The dynamic range was decent in the midrange tones, although not so good at the extremes of the tonal range. Highlights were blown out, with no details. Likewise, there was little detail in the darkest tones, since the shadows tended to swallow up any details.

The camera includes an infrared illuminator for assisting in capturing images in various lighting scenarios. We also found the motion detection features were flexible and very accurate. (Video clips are stored onboard using a micro SD/SDXC card up to 128GB.) For our test purposes, we found the camera capabilities on this camera to be quite good and versatile.

In the UltraSync app you can power the JASCO Z-Wave Plug-In Smart Dimmer lights on and off.GearBrain

JASCO Z-Wave Plug-In Smart Dimmer

In many ways the dimmer is the simplest of the items to use in our test system. You simply insert the JASCO dimmer into a power outlet, and then plug your light (it accepts both two- and three-pronged plugs) into the dimmer. In the app, lights can be powered on and off, or set within a range of 1 to 100 percent illumination.

Conclusion

As with any review of a configurable system, it’s hard to anticipate all the variables with adding or substituting different products within the UltraSync system. And we also look forward to trying out the UltraSync system using Alexa voice commands, as well.

Overall, we like that Interlogix focused on Z-wave compatible components and products, which means that installers have great flexibility in designing and customizing a system for their customers. And while we think some aspects of the system’s structure and user design (UX) could be more streamlined or at least integrated more consistently, in general, we think the system meets the needs of many consumers and business owners who want to own a flexible and re-configurable system.

Pros:

  • A flexible IoT security system for adding multiple products (Z-wave compatible)
  • Offers the ability to include Alexa voice commands to operate the system
  • Relatively simple integration with mobile app

Cons:

  • Comprehensive features may confuse some consumers
  • Certain sections of mobile app could have been more consistently designed
  • Should include more help guides and quick tips sections, along with help videos

Monroe, NJmain

Monroe is part of the outer-ring suburbs of the New York Metropolitan area. More growth has been from single family homes within the past 10 years, than with senior citizen developments. Monroe had the third-largest increase in population of any municipality in the state between 2010 and 2014. With all that growth, that would mean more homes, more businesses, more schools. And with that, they would need to be protected with a security system as well, right? Central Jersey Security Cameras has installed surveillance systems at many of these homes in Monroe and worked with many of the business owners to make sure they have security that fits all of their needs. Homes that add an alarm system to their home with security cameras are four times less likely to be victimized. Double up on your home security. Today’s home alarms are more than just a loud shrieking noise when they go off! All of our alarms are either connected to Central Station Monitoring or are set up to send alerts directly to your smart device or you can set it up to do both. Having your alarm connected with Central Station Monitoring will alert the proper authorities when the alarm is triggered. There’s no such thing as too much security!

East Brunswick, NJeast-brunswick

East Brunswick is a town that continues to grow with an excellent school system, shopping centers, state-of-the-art office complexes, and medical services. With its strategic location and room for growth, it continues to attract residents and homeowners. With that being said, East Brunswick has a multitude of housing choices from single family homes, to townhouses, to condominium and apartment complexes. East Brunswick is also known to host a strong medical presence, in fact Central Jersey’s largest radiology group is headquartered here. East Brunswick is home to the Tower Center Complex which includes two office towers that are among the tallest structures in Central Jersey that can be seen for miles, a Hilton Hotel, a Holiday Inn Express hotel, a convention center and one of the township’s regional commuter park-and-ride facilities.
The five-mile stretch of Route 18 within the township is lined with stores, offices and eating establishments. There are supermarkets, movie theaters, three large and several small shopping malls, the largest of which is the Brunswick Square Mall, a one million square foot complex.

With all these homes and businesses, Central Jersey Security Cameras has been very busy in East Brunswick. Home owners have been installing the Ultrasync alarm panel in their homes as well as in their business. In addition to Ultrasync alarm systems, many residents and business owners are making their homes and business secure with surveillance systems. Police have now asked home owners and businesses to register their surveillance cameras with the police department as a tool to keep crime down in this area. East Brunswick has already adopted this program. East Brunswick still has a lot of future growth to come in the next several years and Central Jersey Security Cameras is looking forward to teaming up with the future business and home owners to come.

Milltown, NJ6360320223112603821198390063_20151005_174100-1

Milltown, located on the outskirts of New Brunswick, NJ is a quaint little town. Many families choose to settle down in Milltown because it is a family-oriented town. Over the past two months, Central Jersey Security Cameras has been working hard helping many homeowners in the area to find the surveillance system that best suits their needs. A quote from one of our technicians here at Central Jersey Security Cameras “It’s been a pleasure to work in Milltown over the past few months and to see so many home owners getting surveillance and alarm systems on their homes”. Many of our New Jersey home owners are installing surveillance systems with line crossing detection.

Spotswood, NJdownload (1)

Another little town much like Milltown is Spotswood located between East Brunswick and Old Bridge. Spotswood is known for its large lake. Although it’s not a swimmable lake, many homeowners have a pool in their backyard. Enjoy listening to your favorite Pandora station while you are out by the pool or barbecuing with company by having Central Jersey Security Cameras come out and install a backyard sound system before the start of the summer season. Let us know what kind of speakers you would like installed in your home. These are a great addition to have in your home theater as well.

Old Bridge, NJold-bridge-300x221

Old Bridge township was named as a contender for the title of one of the best places to live in the United States by Money magazine in both 2005 and 2007. When the home invasions in Old Bridge, NJ took place in 2014 they made national headlines on various news networks, it was noted on these newscasts that Asian-Indian communities in Middlesex County were being targeted. This terrified Asian-Indian communities in Middlesex County, and many of the Asian-Indian communities turned to home security systems to keep their family and businesses safe.
Central Jersey Security Cameras worked closely with many Asian-Indian families to help them feel safe in their homes again. Central Jersey Security Cameras, President and Owner, Robert Murphy said, “I would like to point out that it was an honor to know I made families feel safe and secure again in their homes, and I wanted to point out burglaries/home invasions can happen to any type of family, or business, that a criminal decided to target, The crimes back in 2014, against the Asian-Indian families, took place when it was around a holiday known to have riches in the home. The truth is, it could have been any family in New Jersey targeted, if a burglar thinks may have a large score of goods in their home or business, they can be the criminals next potential victims.”

With that being said, Central Jersey Security Cameras has had a presence all over Old Bridge. We have done security installations from single family homes, to businesses, to restaurants, to fire departments, to libraries, to daycares in Old Bridge. Central Jersey Security Cameras is here to help you protect what matters most.

With summer approaching, many of our New Jersey homeowners like to be outdoors, which would mean they are typically not home. Make it look like you are home even when you are out and about, whether you’re down the shore enjoying the beach and boardwalk or just out at your neighbors barbeque. Protect your home. Adding an Ultra-Sync alarm to your home can now give you control over your lights at home. From the palm of your hand, you can now have complete home automation with the ease of your smart phone. You can turn lights off and on with the tap of your finger. Ultra-Sync can even schedule the lights to turn on at a specific time of day. When you aren’t home, make it look like you are home. You are also able to control your heat while you are away with this alarm system! With all the advances in alarms this past year with the launch of the new Ultra-Sync alarm home automation, you can now not only be alerted when someone is at your home, but you have access to using all these features that make your life more convenient away from home. You can even lock and unlock your doors without digging for those keys in your pocket. Take advantage of the key features our ultra-sync has to offer. DID YOU KNOW CARBON MONOXIDE IS THE SILENT KILLER?!

AS TEMPERATURES DROP, CARBON MONOXIDE POISONING RISK RISES!

This gas is deadly to both animals and humans. Carbon monoxide is known as the “silent killer” because it is colorless, odorless, tasteless, and non- irritating.

Homes that are completely powered by electricity do not have problems with carbon monoxide. The deadly gas is only a potential threat to individuals who heat their homes or appliances with natural gas or another type of fossil fuel. Also, during power outages in the winter, some people bring gasoline powered generators inside. This is NOT a very good idea! By having a gasoline powered generator inside your home, you are exposing yourself to carbon monoxide, which explains the spike in carbon monoxide poisonings in the winter. During power outages, people are more likely to use carbon-monoxide-producing heating and cooking equipment as well as generators that may be situated close to vents, which can draw gas into the home. You may think you are keeping the family nice and warm, but you are exposing them to carbon monoxide. Keep appliances in good working order, and use them safely. Have them serviced regularly by a qualified and registered professional. Ask your utility company about yearly checkups for all gas appliances.

THE “SILENT KILLER”

If the early signs of carbon monoxide poisoning are ignored, a person may lose consciousness and be unable to escape the danger. Carbon monoxide is a silent killer. It has no smell, no taste, and no sound. Neither people nor animals can tell when they are breathing it, but it can be fatal.

CARBON MONOXIDE STATISTICS

TX-6310-01-1_1_
What goes under the radar every single year is that over 20,000 people who are exposed to carbon monoxide and survive. There are long-lasting health issues when you are exposed to carbon monoxide over a long period time. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said about 430 people die from carbon monoxide poisoning each year and 50,000 are forced to seek medical care. 94 percent of CO poisonings occur in residential properties. The highest number of carbon monoxide related deaths occur in the winter months: December, January, or February. Given 374 carbon monoxide deaths and a total U.S. population of 319 million, the mortality rate from carbon monoxide poisoning is 1.2 deaths per one million Americans. 19 states, representing 41% of the U.S. population, had enacted regulations requiring carbon monoxide alarms in at least one major category of residence. Still, relying on people voluntarily using the alarms isn’t working – the CDC reports that only 30% of American homes have functioning carbon monoxide alarms.
Conclusions: Numbers of deaths and death rates, both accidental and intentional, due to carbon monoxide poisoning significantly declined in the United States due to enacting required residential carbon monoxide alarms.

CAUSES

Do you park your vehicle in the garage?

Do you have small children that live in your home? How about elderly parents or grandparents?

Two-boys-fighting-over-toys-56799db33df78ccc154810d2
Did you know they are the most susceptible to carbon monoxide poisoning? Higher death rates were seen among black individuals, small children, and the elderly in winter months and in cold, high-altitude states. All people are at risk for carbon monoxide poisoning. Unborn babies, infants, the elderly, and people with chronic heart disease, anemia, or respiratory problems are generally more at risk than others.

• Unborn babies. Fetal blood cells take up carbon monoxide more readily than adult blood cells do. This makes unborn babies more susceptible to harm from carbon monoxide poisoning.
• Children. Young children take breaths more frequently than adults do, which may make them more susceptible to carbon monoxide poisoning.
• Older adults. Older people who experience carbon monoxide poisoning may be more likely to develop brain damage.
Carbon monoxide poisoning can be especially dangerous for people who are sleeping or intoxicated. People may have irreversible brain damage or even be killed before anyone realizes there’s a problem. Carbon monoxide detectors can be life saving!
old-people
In this tragedy, a 72-year-old woman was found unresponsive in her home along with a 5-year-old girl. Firefighters found the stove still hot to the touch and measured the highest carbon monoxide levels in the kitchen. There were no carbon monoxide detectors present and in this case a detector may have saved a life.

SYMPTOMS

Persons with carbon monoxide poisoning often overlook the symptoms.
Signs and symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning may include:
• Dull headache
• Weakness
• Dizziness
• Nausea or vomiting
• Shortness of breath
• Confusion
• Blurred vision
• Loss of consciousness

Undetected exposure can be fatal. If carbon monoxide levels are high enough, you may become unconscious or die. Exposure to moderate and elevated levels of carbon monoxide over extended periods of time has also been linked with increased risk of heart disease.
How is carbon monoxide harmful to the body? Carbon monoxide is harmful when breathed because it displaces oxygen in the blood and deprives the heart, brain, and other vital organs of oxygen. Copious amounts of carbon monoxide can overcome you in minutes without warning—causing you to lose consciousness and suffocate. Carbon monoxide binds to hemoglobin over 200 times more easily than oxygen does, so if carbon monoxide is present, oxygen will not be able to find space to get into the hemoglobin. This is because the space is occupied with carbon monoxide instead. As a result, parts of the body will be starved of oxygen, and the affected parts will die. The human body needs oxygen, but it has no use for carbon monoxide. If we breathe in carbon monoxide, it provides no benefit, but it deprives the blood of oxygen.

The warning signs of carbon monoxide poisoning can be subtle. But the condition is a life-threatening medical emergency. If you think you or someone you’re with may have carbon monoxide poisoning, get into fresh air, and seek emergency medical care. Carbon monoxide poisoning can be reversed if caught in time.

This couple had only lived in their home for two and a half weeks when they were hospitalized for carbon monoxide poisoning. The husband was treated in a hyperbaric chamber to replace the dangerous level of carbon monoxide in his blood with oxygen.

PREVENTION

Alarms_Graphic2
If household appliances are well serviced and used safely, they should produce negligible quantities of carbon monoxide gas. Using old appliances, and not servicing them frequently, leads to a higher risk of carbon monoxide emission. Keep appliances in good working order, and use them safely. Have them serviced regularly by a qualified and registered professional. Ask your utility company about yearly checkups for all gas appliances, including your furnace. This is also an appropriate time to check the batteries in all your detectors and to check with your security company to make sure everything is up and running properly. It is important to be aware of the dangers of carbon monoxide poisoning. An alarm should be placed in every sleeping area in the house and should be checked regularly.

The CDC advises every household to install a carbon monoxide alarm. Some detectors have a digital readout. Others give out a loud, high-pitched sound when levels of carbon monoxide pass a certain limit. According to the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission, long-term exposure to 1 to 70 ppm of CO will not normally cause any harm, but people with heart problems may have chest pain. Levels of over 70 ppm may cause noticeable symptoms, and if they reach above 150 to 200 ppm, they may cause disorientation, unconsciousness, and death.
