Review: Interlogix UltraSync smart home system lets you design your own security network

A professionally-installed security system offers flexibility on products and Z-Wave compatibility

Terry Sullivan Jun 04, 2018

Consumer electronics products are entering and leaving the marketplace at an increasingly faster pace, driven in part by smart IoT products that connect to the internet. While people may have purchased just one or two IoT devices in the past, perhaps an Amazon Echo or a similar voice-controlled speaker, consumers are now buying more. We recently tested a suite of these products, including those from Interlogix and its UltraSync system, that not only provides home security but also helps to connect, manage and wirelessly control this constellation of devices. A monitored home security that is professionally installed, UltraSync even allows you to use Amazon Alexa‘s voice commands to help control the system.

We recently had a professional security company (Central Jersey Security Cameras, in Freehold, NJ) install the system, as well as several IoT devices, in one of our test houses. For this review, we had the following products installed:

  • UltraSync Self-Contained Hub
  • Yale Real Living Assure Lock SL Key Free Touchscreen Deadbolt (YRD256)
  • TruVision 1080p IP Wi-Fi Desktop IR Camera (TVQ-8101)
  • JASCO Z-Wave Plug-In Smart Dimmer (ZW3103)
  • UltraSync+ mobile app (free, iOS and Android)

Installation and Overview of the UltraSync System

The UltraSync system is a professionally installed security system. From start to finish, it took Central Jersey Security Cameras roughly three hours to complete the job, which included setting up the mobile app and informal training. According to Central Jersey Security Cameras, the approximate installation cost was around $500, and included the cost of the individual items and labor.

There are several benefits to this system, along with the products we choose. First, all the products connect wirelessly to the system, so most likely you won’t need to do any drilling into walls, ceilings, or other parts of your home, unless you decide to mount the hub.

UltraSync Hub
New From: $220.00 in Stock

The system is also based on the Z-Wave wireless protocol. If a homeowner has or plans to buy a Z-Wave device, it would be compatible with the UltraSync system, which includes such products such as lighting, locks, thermostats, wireless speakers, doorbells, garage door openers, fan controllers, and water management systems.

Overall, the UltraSync system worked well. I found it was consistent in notifying me, mostly through the mobile app, as well as in triggering sounds in the home from the hub. For instance, when I open the front door, the panel produces a chiming sound to let someone know that the front door is ajar. Much of these notifications are also customizable. For more on the overall system, you can go to Interlogix’s UltraSync Smarthome section of its website.

In the UltraSync mobile app, you can view clips from the security camera, and customize your own features.GearBrain

The UltraSync+ mobile app

The mobile app, UltraSync+ (for iOS and Android), is the heart of the system since it’s where you’ll add products, or customize your UltraSync ecosystem. But unlike most consumer-oriented apps, it’s not really an app tailored for the DIY type. You need to work with the installation company that installed your system in order to understand certain aspects of the app, particularly passcode and passwords. At least, at first.

The app is divided into several sections, including overview, lights, thermostat, camera, lock, and sensor. In the upper-left hand corner of the app, there’s a menu section where, if you are not logged in, you can access a number of handy videos. However, you are asked to choose between videos targeted at homeowners and those targeted at the pro dealers. In terms of design, it would have been better to offer only one set of videos to consumers to confuse them. (In fact, if you choose the pro dealer videos, a warning pops up with a message telling you should never try to alter or even access the dealer settings. In my view, it would have been better to exclude such videos that might confuse users.)

Additionally, there are differently designed sections that make the app feel a bit disjointed. For example, the Settings section looks markedly different from the main sections of the app. I also feel the app would benefit from a user manual or help section in addition to the help videos. Still, overall the app is useful and logical in its structure.

Overall, the system’s mobile app, worked reasonably well. I was impressed with the system’s consistent notifications, which appeared as popup messages on my phone and which can be configured in the Settings section of the app. All the commands and controls worked as expected, whether I was locking my front door, dimming the lights, or accessing video on the wireless camera.

The IoT Devices (Tested for this Review)

Because this review is focusing on a system, we chose to focus on several products that would most likely be included in a home-security system. The following devices were installed in our test house: UltraSync Self-Contained Hub, Yale Real Living Assure Lock SL Key Free Touchscreen Deadbolt (YRD256), TruVision 1080p IP Wi-Fi Desktop IR Camera (TVQ-8101), JASCO Z-Wave Plug-In Smart Dimmer (ZW3103), and several sensors to work with the UltraSync system.

UltraSync Hub

The UltraSync Self-Contained Hub

In many ways, you could have a review of just the UltraSync Self-Contained Hub. That’s because the features on this wireless hub are quite extensive: It can be set up for 256 users, 64 wireless sensors and 20 Keyfobs, and four distinct areas/partitions (which means you can split the system into smaller parts). Plus, it has a personal voice guided setup and menu prompts, and a 24-hour battery backup.

In terms of design, it has a very clear, functional, yet versatile interface: The various buttons are all color-coded and illuminated so that they can be clearly seen in dimly lit lighting scenarios. It’s also loaded with other system features: It’s internet ready, capable of being connected over Ethernet or Wi-Fi and, of course, includes a Z-Wave radio for controlling smart home devices. However, in many ways, I can see the average consumer opting to work mostly through the mobile app, and only use the hub when needed. Still, it’s worthwhile to take some time to study the hub’s extensive user PDF guide.

We installed the Yale Real Living Assure Lock SL Key Free Touchscreen Deadbolt with the UltraSync systemGearBrain

Yale Real Living Assure Lock SL Key Free Touchscreen Deadbolt

If you’re looking for a configurable lock that includes wireless Z-wave technology yet also has classic, non-tech styling, the Yale Real Living Assure Lock SL Key Free Touchscreen Deadbolt is a very good choice. The technology works well within the UltraSync system. In our test house, we were able to lock and unlock the unit from the UltraSync+ mobile app as well as entering a number code onto the key pad.

You also have a lot of flexibility: For instance, you can add a temporary code for someone, say, who might be staying with you for just a couple of weeks. Via the app, you can provide your guest with his or her own unique key combination for the keyless entry lock. When they’ve left, you can remove this temporary code from the app’s settings. So, you always have control over who can unlock the door.

If there’s a downside, it’s with the display, although it’s more of a quibble: If you’ve installed the lock outside in an area that has direct sunlight, and it’s a bright and sunny day, it may be a bit difficult to see the LED numbers on the door pad. Obviously, you can shield the lock with your hands to see the numbers better. Overall, though, the product worked very well and provided a secure, yet flexible way to include a wireless, keyless lock into the UltraSync system.

The TruVision 1080p IP Wi-Fi Desktop IR camera had fairy accurate color, but highlights were blow out and had a lack of detail.GearBrain

TruVision 1080p IP Wi-Fi Desktop IR Camera

Our installation team set up TruVision’s 1080p IP Wi-Fi Desktop IR Camera as the security camera for the system, which as the name indicates allows for 1080p HD resolution video (as well as lower resolutions), and has a field of view of 115 degrees. We set it up in the living room, facing the door. In our tests, we found the model did a fine job at recording as well as capturing real-time video and audio. As with many security cams, there was quite a bit of sharpening as well as some barrel distortion, due to the wide angle of view.

Nevertheless, the footage had nice detail and fairly accurate color (even though the colors were on the muted side, and not very saturated.) The dynamic range was decent in the midrange tones, although not so good at the extremes of the tonal range. Highlights were blown out, with no details. Likewise, there was little detail in the darkest tones, since the shadows tended to swallow up any details.

The camera includes an infrared illuminator for assisting in capturing images in various lighting scenarios. We also found the motion detection features were flexible and very accurate. (Video clips are stored onboard using a micro SD/SDXC card up to 128GB.) For our test purposes, we found the camera capabilities on this camera to be quite good and versatile.

In the UltraSync app you can power the JASCO Z-Wave Plug-In Smart Dimmer lights on and off.GearBrain

JASCO Z-Wave Plug-In Smart Dimmer

In many ways the dimmer is the simplest of the items to use in our test system. You simply insert the JASCO dimmer into a power outlet, and then plug your light (it accepts both two- and three-pronged plugs) into the dimmer. In the app, lights can be powered on and off, or set within a range of 1 to 100 percent illumination.

Conclusion

As with any review of a configurable system, it’s hard to anticipate all the variables with adding or substituting different products within the UltraSync system. And we also look forward to trying out the UltraSync system using Alexa voice commands, as well.

Overall, we like that Interlogix focused on Z-wave compatible components and products, which means that installers have great flexibility in designing and customizing a system for their customers. And while we think some aspects of the system’s structure and user design (UX) could be more streamlined or at least integrated more consistently, in general, we think the system meets the needs of many consumers and business owners who want to own a flexible and re-configurable system.

Pros:

  • A flexible IoT security system for adding multiple products (Z-wave compatible)
  • Offers the ability to include Alexa voice commands to operate the system
  • Relatively simple integration with mobile app

Cons:

  • Comprehensive features may confuse some consumers
  • Certain sections of mobile app could have been more consistently designed
  • Should include more help guides and quick tips sections, along with help videos

Monroe, NJmain

Monroe is part of the outer-ring suburbs of the New York Metropolitan area. More growth has been from single family homes within the past 10 years, than with senior citizen developments. Monroe had the third-largest increase in population of any municipality in the state between 2010 and 2014. With all that growth, that would mean more homes, more businesses, more schools. And with that, they would need to be protected with a security system as well, right? Central Jersey Security Cameras has installed surveillance systems at many of these homes in Monroe and worked with many of the business owners to make sure they have security that fits all of their needs. Homes that add an alarm system to their home with security cameras are four times less likely to be victimized. Double up on your home security. Today’s home alarms are more than just a loud shrieking noise when they go off! All of our alarms are either connected to Central Station Monitoring or are set up to send alerts directly to your smart device or you can set it up to do both. Having your alarm connected with Central Station Monitoring will alert the proper authorities when the alarm is triggered. There’s no such thing as too much security!

East Brunswick, NJeast-brunswick

East Brunswick is a town that continues to grow with an excellent school system, shopping centers, state-of-the-art office complexes, and medical services. With its strategic location and room for growth, it continues to attract residents and homeowners. With that being said, East Brunswick has a multitude of housing choices from single family homes, to townhouses, to condominium and apartment complexes. East Brunswick is also known to host a strong medical presence, in fact Central Jersey’s largest radiology group is headquartered here. East Brunswick is home to the Tower Center Complex which includes two office towers that are among the tallest structures in Central Jersey that can be seen for miles, a Hilton Hotel, a Holiday Inn Express hotel, a convention center and one of the township’s regional commuter park-and-ride facilities.
The five-mile stretch of Route 18 within the township is lined with stores, offices and eating establishments. There are supermarkets, movie theaters, three large and several small shopping malls, the largest of which is the Brunswick Square Mall, a one million square foot complex.

With all these homes and businesses, Central Jersey Security Cameras has been very busy in East Brunswick. Home owners have been installing the Ultrasync alarm panel in their homes as well as in their business. In addition to Ultrasync alarm systems, many residents and business owners are making their homes and business secure with surveillance systems. Police have now asked home owners and businesses to register their surveillance cameras with the police department as a tool to keep crime down in this area. East Brunswick has already adopted this program. East Brunswick still has a lot of future growth to come in the next several years and Central Jersey Security Cameras is looking forward to teaming up with the future business and home owners to come.

Milltown, NJ6360320223112603821198390063_20151005_174100-1

Milltown, located on the outskirts of New Brunswick, NJ is a quaint little town. Many families choose to settle down in Milltown because it is a family-oriented town. Over the past two months, Central Jersey Security Cameras has been working hard helping many homeowners in the area to find the surveillance system that best suits their needs. A quote from one of our technicians here at Central Jersey Security Cameras “It’s been a pleasure to work in Milltown over the past few months and to see so many home owners getting surveillance and alarm systems on their homes”. Many of our New Jersey home owners are installing surveillance systems with line crossing detection.

Line crossing detection, or intrusion detection, is a function of your DVR, NVR or IP camera. What it does is that it instantly detects any motion in a certain “set”, which is a set area that is personally set by you for your alert needs. It will send immediate alerts to your smart device directly from the DVR, NVR  or IP camera. For example, you want to know when someone or something enters your driveway? So, you go into the software of your DVR, NVR or IP camera and start setting up specific areas by drawing lines across the driveway. Of course, these are not visible lines to the human eye since it is only a virtual line or perimeter you have created, but it acts just as good as a virtual tripwire. In essence, what it will do is activate the area when the area or line is breached and send you a notification either directly through the app or to your email, whichever option you choose. You can even have audible alerts right on site through an external siren or right from the DVR or NVR.
You can set this to work on schedules, certain hours during the day, certain days during the week or if you are on vacation and will be away from your home or business and you want to be alerted when someone or something breaches your “set” area or areas. While both High Definition and IP cameras or the use of an NVR in conjunction with IP cameras will both do the job, there is more flexibility with the NVR and IP cameras in terms of having multiple cameras set up for line crossing/intrusion detection. There are also sensitivity settings that do adjust to meet your needs. For example, you may not want to know when a cat or small animal crosses the line, so you would adjust the scale to measure for larger objects.

Spotswood, NJdownload (1)

Another little town much like Milltown is Spotswood located between East Brunswick and Old Bridge. Spotswood is known for its large lake. Although it’s not a swimmable lake, many homeowners have a pool in their backyard. Enjoy listening to your favorite Pandora station while you are out by the pool or barbecuing with company by having Central Jersey Security Cameras come out and install a backyard sound system before the start of the summer season. Let us know what kind of speakers you would like installed in your home. These are a great addition to have in your home theater as well.

Old Bridge, NJold-bridge-300x221

Old Bridge township was named as a contender for the title of one of the best places to live in the United States by Money magazine in both 2005 and 2007. When the home invasions in Old Bridge, NJ took place in 2014 they made national headlines on various news networks, it was noted on these newscasts that Asian-Indian communities in Middlesex County were being targeted. This terrified Asian-Indian communities in Middlesex County, and many of the Asian-Indian communities turned to home security systems to keep their family and businesses safe.
Central Jersey Security Cameras worked closely with many Asian-Indian families to help them feel safe in their homes again. Central Jersey Security Cameras, President and Owner, Robert Murphy said, “I would like to point out that it was an honor to know I made families feel safe and secure again in their homes, and I wanted to point out burglaries/home invasions can happen to any type of family, or business, that a criminal decided to target, The crimes back in 2014, against the Asian-Indian families, took place when it was around a holiday known to have riches in the home. The truth is, it could have been any family in New Jersey targeted, if a burglar thinks may have a large score of goods in their home or business, they can be the criminals next potential victims.”

With that being said, Central Jersey Security Cameras has had a presence all over Old Bridge. We have done security installations from single family homes, to businesses, to restaurants, to fire departments, to libraries, to daycares in Old Bridge. Central Jersey Security Cameras is here to help you protect what matters most.

With summer approaching, many of our New Jersey homeowners like to be outdoors, which would mean they are typically not home. Make it look like you are home even when you are out and about, whether you’re down the shore enjoying the beach and boardwalk or just out at your neighbors barbeque. Protect your home. Adding an Ultra-Sync alarm to your home can now give you control over your lights at home. From the palm of your hand, you can now have complete home automation with the ease of your smart phone. You can turn lights off and on with the tap of your finger. Ultra-Sync can even schedule the lights to turn on at a specific time of day. When you aren’t home, make it look like you are home. You are also able to control your heat while you are away with this alarm system! With all the advances in alarms this past year with the launch of the new Ultra-Sync alarm home automation, you can now not only be alerted when someone is at your home, but you have access to using all these features that make your life more convenient away from home. You can even lock and unlock your doors without digging for those keys in your pocket. Take advantage of the key features our ultra-sync has to offer. This is the weekend that many residents of the tri-state area look forward to. The official summer kick off on the Jersey Shore! Central Jersey Security Cameras has been busy working with home owners and businesses all around the Jersey Shore. We have installed full home security systems consisting of home security cameras and alarm systems, homes with full home automation, home surround sound, home theaters and outdoor audio systems. Over the cold winter months, our crews have worked hard keeping the coast of the Jersey Shore safe and secure for these customers…

Asbury Park, NJ

asburyOver the past few years it’s been nice to see Asbury Park once again become a growing summer hot spot on the Jersey Shore, in fact it was just named the 2nd best beach in the world! Central Jersey Security Cameras has been helping home owners and business owners secure their properties before the summer rush. One thing we have enjoyed over the winter months is seeing the beautiful old homes come back to life in this town. Home owners have been installing the Ultrasync alarm panel in their homes and in their Asbury Park business. In addition to Ultrasync alarm systems, many residents and business owners are making their homes and business secure with surveillance systems. Asbury Park police have now asked home owners and businesses to register their surveillance cameras with the police department as a tool to keep crime down in this area. Many New Jersey towns, such as East Brunswick and Edison, have already adopted this program and now Asbury Park is looking to become one of the 1st Jersey Shore towns to do this.

Belmar, NJ

belmarBelmar is known as one of our beloved beachy towns here in New Jersey. Belmar has cameras facing towards the beach known as the ‘surfers view’ which is very useful to the surfers and the beach goers. You get to see what’s going on before taking the ride down the shore. This has become so popular that other beach towns are starting to catch on as well. Central Jersey Security Cameras has held a presence in Belmar over the winter. We have done security camera installations at the hotels that tourists would vacation at as well as the condo’s and homes of our locals that like to make themselves at home down the shore for the summer months. Central Jersey Security Cameras has helped to keep the business owners at ease and their patrons safe by upgrading and maintaining their security systems as well.

Spring Lake, NJ

welcome-to-spring-lakeA beautiful town in New Jersey filled with many pristine summer homes and cute shops and cafes to visit along the shore. Many of the shops in the business district have now added surveillance to their business.Home owners in the area have found that using their security cameras have been a great tool to let them know what’s going on with the weather before they go down to the shore for the weekend or they enjoy the ease of checking on these homes when they can not be there. This past week Central Jersey Security Cameras has worked with the Spring Lake Manor, a popular wedding/banquet facility, getting their surveillance system updated for the busy summer season.Home owners in Spring Lake have utilized alarm systems Central Jersey Security Cameras have installed by using the feature on the

Ultrasync alarm that allows the home owner to open doors remotely or to give someone only limited access to their home by only allowing their code to work on their alarm certain times of the day assigned by the home owner. For example, if a home owner has a weekly care taker to come into the home at 12pm every Thursday, that will be the only time that their code will work in the alarm panel. This is a great feature that protects you from having to hand out keys to your home that can be lost and protects you from having staff come back to your home that no longer are employed by you in the future.

Point Pleasant, NJ

Point Pleasant Beach -1Point Pleasant is a year-round family town. Many, when they think of this town, think it’s a fun summer family destination. As this is true, there is also a large growing population of this town that is now filled with families year-round. In fact, the high school was just added to the list of great high schools in New Jersey. With the growth of Point Pleasant becoming a year-round primary residence for many home owners more of the businesses in Point Pleasant are now operating year-round as well. Central Jersey Security Cameras has worked with numerous home owners over the years installing home security. We are proud to say that has now expended to customers on the Jenkinson’s Boardwalk and businesses in the Point Pleasant Boro. We have installed security camera systems and alarm systems in boutique stores, doctors’ offices and restaurants.

Long Branch, NJ

long-branch-pier-village-modern-shopping-area-nj-33650712Another town that has remodeled itself along the shore of New Jersey is Long Branch. Pier Village in Long Branch is filled with restaurants and shops that overlook the ocean and was the beginning of the rebuild of this sea side town. Central Jersey Security Cameras has installed surveillance cameras in restaurants, liquor stores, marinas and for home owners in the area. In addition to surveillance cameras, we have also installed Ultrasync alarm panels in many of these locations to provide our customers with dual protection of both security cameras and security alarms.

Seaside, NJ

DSC_0345To many, Seaside Heights would be looked at as the party that never ends. With the popularity of the “Jersey Shore”, this town was made even more of a party town and brought to life more of the Seaside party scene.  Yes, Seaside is home to many of the bars and clubs that would attract us all summer long, but it does consist of much more than that. Seaside Heights is home to one of the infamous boardwalk’s that many businesses run on. As a business owner, the merchandise these boardwalk stores sell is of high value and they are not open all year round like a typical business would be. Much like the businesses, there are also many residents that have their summer homes and beach houses in Seaside Heights. As one of those residents, wouldn’t it be convenient to be able to check in on your summer home all throughout the year without taking the trip down the shore? If the answer is yes, give Central Jersey Security Cameras a call.

A second part to Seaside, NJ is Seaside Park. Seaside Park is filled with family friendly beaches and rental homes for the summer season. Many of the Seaside Park rental home owners have had Central Jersey Security Cameras install exterior cameras to the homes to watch that the homes are being kept in good shape during the times they are being rented. These surveillance cameras will also become the evidence of what take places around the property if there are damages to the property.

Island Beach State Park, NJ

island beach Island Beach Park is right past Seaside Park and is a beautiful state park that Central Jersey Security Cameras has had the pleasure to work at. We have over the years worked installing cameras in and around the toll booths as you enter the park and our staff has even enjoyed a few company outings at this beach. On your way from Seaside Park to Island Beach, there is a small area of homes on mid-way beach. These bungalow homeowners have been installing security cameras to watch what happens around their homes. Many of them use their surveillance systems to check on weather damages throughout the winter when storms come up the coast. The same systems help these homeowners monitor when they are not there in the summer months and possibly rent out their midway bungalows, that their tenants are caring for their homes the way it should be.

Brick, NJ

brickOften Brick is a forgotten beach town. Many of the year-round residents like to keep it that way and it’s not a big summer Benny town like many of its nearby Point Pleasant. Brick is a town that runs along the coast of New Jersey and comes inland and touches parts of Lakewood and Howell. Bick is filled with family homes, marinas, and restaurants. Central Jersey Security Cameras has installed cameras around marinas in Brick to help the marina owners keep an eye on the marina all day and night with the line intrusion feature. Line crossing detection or intrusion detection is a function of your DVR, NVR or IP camera. What it does is instantly detect any motion in a certain “set”, set by you. It will send immediate alerts to your smart device directly from the DVR, NVR or IP camera. This is a function that homeowners enjoy having too because it will send the alerts to your phone that you set when your children arrive home or when your mail is delivered.

Mantoloking, NJ

mantoloking_bridgeJust south of Brick is Mantoloking. Mantoloking is a borough in Ocean County that was just named one of the richest towns in New Jersey. With a title of New Jersey’s richest town, you know these homeowners need to secure their homes. Not only does Central Jersey Security Cameras secure these homes with state of the art home security cameras and alarms, we also have installed outdoor audio systems around pool areas and homeowners backyard decks for their enjoyment.

Customer feedback about Central Jersey Security Cameras

hikvision-counterday-banner
Review from John T, Freehold NJ
Central Jersey Security Team is amazing. I had them install Cameras at my home and you couldn’t even tell they were here. They were respectful to the house, and to the property. Burglaries-and-robberies-in-the-US–Where-to-place-your-home-security-systems

Over the past few years in NJ we have seen home invasions in the news in towns such as Old Bridge NJ, Edison NJ, Monroe NJ, South Orange NJ, Jackson NJ, Englewood NJ, Freehold NJ, South Plainfield, NJ and most recently in Holmdel NJ. When the home invasions in Old Bridge, NJ took place in 2014 they made national headlines on various news networks, it was noted on these news casts that Asian-Indian communities in Middlesex County were being targeted. This terrified Asian-Indian communities in Middlesex County, and many of the Asian-Indian communities turned to home security systems to keep their family and businesses safe.
Central Jersey Security Cameras worked closely with many Asian-Indian families to help them feel safe in their homes again. Central Jersey Security Cameras, President and Owner, Robert Murphy said, “I would like to point out that it was a honor to know I made families feel safe and secure again in their homes, and I wanted to point out burglaries / home invasions can happen to any type of family, or business, that a criminal decided to target, The crimes back in 2014, against the Asian-Indian families, took place when it was around a holiday known to have riches in the home. The truth is, it could have been any family in New Jersey targeted, if a burglar thinks may have a large score of goods in their home or business, they can be the criminals next potential victims.”
Once again, in the past two weeks, New Jersey has seen at least two home invasions. One in Holmdel, NJ, to one of the stars from “Desperate Housewives of New Jersey”, and the second one was to a mother in Belleville, NJ. Home invasions take a mental toll on its victims. Know the difference between a Home Invasion, Robbery, Burglary, Larceny, Theft and Extortion

Home Invasion:
In the dictionary home invasion is defined as; In the United States and many other English speaking countries (though not the United Kingdom) home invasion is an illegal and usually forceful entry to an occupied, private dwelling with intent to commit a violent crime against the occupants, such as robbery, assault, rape, murder, or kidnapping.
Burglary vs Robbery are Often the Most Confused Terms:
Robbery and burglary are both crimes that involve theft and it is the circumstances that surround each that defines their differences. When it comes to the legal definition of theft there are actually a number of categories of theft in addition to burglary and robbery. These additional theft crimes include: larceny, theft and extortion.

Robbery
In the dictionary, robbery is defined by the law as taking or trying to take something from someone that has value by utilizing intimidation, force or threat. In order for robbery to take place, a victim must be present at the scene and can occur with a single victim or, in cases like bank hold ups, multiple victims.

Burglary
Burglary is defined by the law as the unlawful entry to a structure to commit theft or a felony. In order for burglary to take place, a victim does not have to be present. When a burglary takes place, the structure being unlawfully entered can be any number of building types including business offices, personal homes and even garden sheds. Burglary is not the term used for crimes committed on cars.

Larceny
In the dictionary, larceny is a term that is similar to burglary. However, it does not involve illegal entry to a structure using attempted forcible, non-forcible or forcible entry methods. The exception to this rule is the case of burglary of a motor vehicle which is referred to as larceny. Under all conditions, whether a vehicle is left with the doors locked and security system on or whether the doors or windows were left open, vehicle “burglary” crimes are referred to as larceny

Theft
In the dictionary, many times the term, theft, is used as a general term by the public to refer to the illegal taking of an item. As it happens, theft is defined specifically depending upon the jurisdiction in which it is being prosecuted, but many times it is a term used as a synonym for larceny.

Extortion
In the dictionary extortion is a specific crime in which an individual forces someone to do something against their will by threatening them with damage to the person’s reputation, financial hardship, violence, property damage or threat of violence. Extortion differs from robbery in that victims who are being extorted willingly hand over the item being extorted in an attempt to avoid the threat being used against them. Depending upon the jurisdiction in which extortion is being prosecuted, it can be considered theft or larceny.

Many families are packing the families up catching flights to fun destinations or packing the family up in the car for their spring break get away. How safe will your home, and all the belongings you work so hard for while you are away, really be? Here are just a few Tips from your local Security Company, Central Jersey Security Cameras:

Let’s start with Windows and Doors-
All your first-floor doors, and windows should be secured with heavy-duty locks. This includes double-keyed deadbolts on your doors. For added protection an alarm on your home with glass breaks, or sensors in the room will alert a central station monitoring, or proper authorities within seconds.

Even your valuables or important Jewelry and money –
Burglars head immediately to the master bedroom upon gaining entry to a home. Never store valuables in the master bedroom! A clever idea is to store them in a safe, located in a bathroom or other interior room.

When You Aren’t Home; Make it Look Like You are Home –
Adding an Ultra-Sync alarm to your home can now give you control over your lights at home. From the palm of your hand, you can now have complete home automation with the ease of your smart phone. You can turn lights off, and on with the tap of your finger. Ultra-Sync can even schedule the lights to turn on at a specific time of day. You can even control your heat while you are away with this alarm system! To learn more about what the Ultra-Sync can do for your home visit our webpage
Have your Home Protected with Home Security Cameras –
Home security cameras are the #1 deterrent from a burglar breaking into your home. Time and time again, we see a criminal look right into the camera, and we get a call that a house a few doors down has been broken into. Don’t call when it’s too late, give your home a security system that will

Lastly, Have your Home Secure with an Alarm with Central Station Monitoring
Alarms are also a great deterrent, however, alarm systems with Central Station Monitoring will alert the proper authorities. To the glass on a window being broken, or movement in the home we have alarms that cover it all. The Central Station Company used by Central Jersey Security Cameras has a 13 second response time to get the proper authorities dispatched to your home. Manalapan NJ Customer Testimonial

Stephen a Manalapan New Jersey Customer had this to say about central Jersey security Cameras-

After a rash of robberies, and lawn items missing that I have seen in the news, and on the Manalapan Patch I decided to get some security cameras.

Checked out many Companies in the area To find many stores, and schools use this Company, and after with talking to them I found to be the Best Company to use, why?

1. Price was the best of others using the same equipment.
2. They have a office in Freehold, and answer all your calls 6 days a week during business hours. No need to leave a message like others I called.
3. Has a office where you can see the cameras in action with making a appointment to sit down with the owner Bob, or have him come out to you.
4. Workers are are background checked, and state certified.

So had 6 IP cameras, and a NVR installed on a Sat (Big Plus for me on a Sat since I work M-F)
Three workers arrived on time and did the install so professionally, just great work.
They showed me how to operate the NVR, view on my PC, check the recordings plus hooked up for viewing on a I Phone, and Android phone.

Even tho I have a 110 lb German Shepard he only protects the inside of my home. Now I have protection on the outside from those who like to steal from driveways, cars, packages left by USPS, UPS, etc and lawn decorations

Could not be happier customer, Thank you Bob, Tracy, and the crew.
